Mrs. Shanfelt - Memorial 69934407
I believe that this grave belongs to Alice Melville Shanfelt, b. 24 Apr 1874 in Pennsylvania, d. 23 Apr 1926 in East Mauch Chunk, Carbon County, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Lewis Shanfelt, and the daughter of Frank F. Melville and Sarah Wheeler Melville.

Alice was buried at Evergreen Cemetery on 26 Apr 1926 at Evergreen Cemetery at East Mauch Chunk.

I obtained this information from a copy of her death certificate online on I have a distant connection to the Melville family.

They are all related to the Miller family tree the connection is made through marriage Alvena Miller Britton and Evelyn Britton Sellers Shanfelt.

Should you want to fill out your page on this man, the Cullum's Register entry (which gives the bare statistical bones of his Army career) is at, and the 12‑page obituary in the Association of Graduates Report for 1902, of greater interest and including a photo of him, is at (I just put them online today.)

Ellen S. Snyder

Do you have any more information on Ellen S. Snyder (1862 - 1900)?

I've been looking for information on my 3rd great grandmother Ellen Miller who was married to Francis Snyder and had three children (Bertha, Henry and Ralph).

I have been unable to find much information about her and nothing about her burial. I suspect she died between 1888 and 1900. Her last son was born in 1888 and by the 1900 census her husband is listed as "Widowed".

I believe it is possible this Ellen S. Snyder might be who I'm looking for. Thank you for your help!

Elizabeth Bowman Butler
Hi Emily,

Thanks for posting the information on Elizabeth Bowman Butler who is buried in Mauch Chunk cemetery. I am interested in learning whether her birth and death information came from the headstone, the cemetery records or some other source. I have the same question concerning her husband, James R. Butler, posted by Dick Quenzer, but he has disabled his message facility.

Mary Morgan Worrell
Hi Emily,

Mary Morgan Worrell is interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Jim Thorpe. I notice that her DOB is 1891, and her DOD is 1852. Do you think it's supposed to be 1952? Thank you.

The photo you have for Matilda Miller Kistler #68666211, could you post one for Samuel Kistler Sr. & Samuel Kistler Jr, & his wife Edna.
I would but some people get mad when their photos are used and I don't want to make any trouble.
Thank you,
