Would I be able to use your headstone photo for my great Uncle William M Grieve, Find A Grave Memorial# 724419 in my online family tree? I am happy to include your name as photo credit. Thanks for your time.

Please check findagrave memorials 96822997, 134855343 and 156023529. It seems that there are three memorials for Vern.

I see the differences. I have entered what the VA records as his birth year and it shows him as "Sr." What is correct? ANd, is he not in a columbarium/mausoleum? Thanks.

Sure you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org --- we can compare notes.
I don't know how far you have gone back in the Hager line --- I have loads of information on the Hagers and associated family lines going back to the mid 1640s.
Do you have family history about Lucy C. Hager? Were you aware that Lucy C. Fletcher (senior) was a Hager before you saw the posting on findagrave? There is not much information about her on any sites. When I look on the public family trees for Lucy C. Fletcher (Junior), many of the public family trees list her mother as unknown . . . or list her mother as Betsey Jones.
I also have traced the Fletcher line that relocated to Oregon but I don't know exactly where you fit in!
I posted the Hager Cemetery photos just to get the photographs up on the site but I have been too busy to add the additional information (i.e, birth dates, death dates, family links) to the records.
I have received some "correction" emails from you and someone else recently but I will not add the information until I have documentation that the suggested information is correct (or have time to go through my own records to make sure it is correct). I will try to get my Hager Cemetery information posted within the next week or two.
I have made several trips to Cass County to go through courthouse records, visit local cemeteries, and work on the Hager Cemetery.
I also have corresponded with local historical societies in New Hampshire for information on the family pre-1840s. The Hager family was in Massachusetts before moving to New Hampshire and I was able to find information on LDS microfiche.
There is a fair amount of misinformation about the Hager family on Ancestry so don't accept any of it as gospel without checking it out thoroughly --- that is why I don't post anything until there is documentation to support the posting. As with many families, lots of the errors are due to the fact that so many family members had the same name! (Kind of like Lucy C. Fletcher (Sr.) having a daughter named Lucy C. Fletcher who married a different Fletcher! How confusing is that???)
I have visited the acreage that belonged to Lyman Hager - and have even found the actual site of the house but there is not a structure there anymore. I have one photograph of Lyman and his family but I don't have any photographs of Reuben Hager. Lyman was in his 50s when my grandfather was born and Lyman died when my grandfather was in his teens so I don't have much family lore about Lyman.
Time to go - more later - feel free to email me at the email address above. I am interested in any information that you can add, too.

|Marsha||RE: Lucy Hager|
I am in the process of restoring the entire Hager Cemetery in Cass County. I think the process will take me three to five years but I am determined to get the cemetery cleaned up and many of the stones repaired. (I live in suburban Chicago so I am only able to make the trip to Beardstown two or three times per year.)
It has been left untended for many generations. Most of the burials were in the 1840s and 1850s - the last person buried there was Reuben Hager in 1871.
Reuben Hager was Lucy's father. He was my great-great-grandfather. My great-grandfather Lyman Hager was Lucy's brother.
I have lots and lots of information on the Hager family that I can share with you.
There are also other people buried at the Hager Cemetery that may be of interest to you, as they are also related to your family. The parents of Betsey Jones Fletcher (Milton and Susanna Jones) are also buried there. I am sure that you are aware that she was Samuel Metcalf Fletcher's third wife. I have located Milton Jones' gravestone (it is in really bad shape!) but have not yet found Susanna Jones' grave. Susanna Jones was born Susanna Shedd - according to my records, her brother lead the wagon train to Oregon that relocated your family in the 1860s or 1870s.
I have been researching the family lines of all of the people buried in the Hager Cemetery and their histories are all intertwined! It is proving to be a fabulous quest!
Hope to hear from you again,
Marsha Hager Magnino

Thank you for taking the photo of my great uncle's headstone at Willamette National Cemetery. Both he and my great aunt passed away in the 1970's. I appreciate the work you've done for the veterans (and their wives, in this case). Take care and God Bless. With All Sincerity,
