Shirley Monument Picture request
Hi Kay,

I was in the Oak Forrest Cemetery today. I took pictures of the Shirley headstones, but I am not sure that you can really see much. I will have to download them to my laptop and look through them to see. Are you related to the Shirley's? We are having a difficult time finding the original listing of the individuals that have been buried in the Cemetery. Would you know anything about the original listing of who is buried in the cemetery?

I am very concerned about the cemetery. It appears that the farmers that own the land around the cemetery are encroaching on the cemetery. I found and have a copy of the original cemetery deed and hop to have the cemetery surveyed. In addition, I plan to apply to have Oak Forest Cemetery added to the National Register of Historic Places. If accepted this would allow us to apply for a grant to restore the cemetery and hopefully build a fence and permanent entrance to the cemetery. I found a copy of the original deed where the James Smith family sold 1.5 acres for the purpose of the Oak Forrest Cemetery. Apparently there were a board of directors.
We need your help. If you are interested in getting involved by volunteering or sending donations, please contact me at libby@hobbsfamilyweb.com or Wyn Gardner at wyngardner@gmail.com. Wyn is currently maintaining a checking account to pay for maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery. If you are interested in sending a donation, please send it to: Wyn Gardner, 155 Jaybird Lane, Searcy, AR 72143.
I hope to hear back from you with any information you might have.

Manning Howard Edwards
Find A Grave Memorial# 10515710
You attached a 1 page photo of a Memorandum of Evidence for Manning Howard Edwards. I am interested in more information on where this image originated. He would have been the brother in law of my great-grand uncle. His sister, Nancy Jane Edwards married my great-grandfathers Uncle, Isaac Franklin Stiles. You can reach me at nicholelathrop@yahoo.com.

Thank you!!

Lt Col Thomas Pawling Bull *-# 70131107

Ann Hunter-# 70139777
1744 1817

PLEASE NOTE:
his sister Ann Bull-# 108379009
married Waters Dewees -# 108378819

There seems to be confusion between her (Ann Bull Dewees) and the wife of Levi (Ann Jacob- # 108379009)

Thanks I should have linked them together, as I had put information on the Memorial a long time ago. I knew about Ann Bull Dewees and Ann Jacobs. I have been on find A Grave for a long time, and I have been doing genalogy for over 20 years. My family is Bull and I have researched them. Where did you get the name of Col. Thomas Pawling Bull???? I have never seen Pawling as a middle name for him. His father was Richard Bull and his mother was Elizabeth Pawling.

Thank you for sending updates for Ann Bull.

Would you like me to transfer the memorial to you? I generally don't mind updating a memorial but I am just as happy to transfer.

Are you aware that you can do many of these steps automatically yourself? If you go to the memorial and click on the Edit tab above the photo, there are links where you can suggest changes to the date, name, plot, and more. It is best to do what you can this way, because other members will not take suggestions not submitted using the "auto" methods.

I send many updates because I am adding plot numbers in a large cemetery. When I do, what someone submits goes directly to the memorial when I Agree to the change. (I also have the option to Reject or Ignore, but unless I feel something is incorrect, I would never do that.)

Hi :) Check the memorial, and make sure it looks correct for the updates. Have you sent edits for the siblings to be connected to their parents? If you are related, please let me know and I would be happy to transfer. Thanks :)

Thank you for the links to Tairl's parents - Oliver Parks and Lizzie Patton Parks. Just FYI, Cecil Thurman Parks is still living, as are all of the children whose names are shown on Alice's marker.
Thank you for your help.

Creek Family
I have noticed on some of the Creek Family memorials you have posted photos. Are you related? I am Thomas William Creek's (12 APR 1846) 3rd great granddaughter. I'm interested in his first wife Martha Jane Hiatt (If my info is correct). She seems to be the mother to Rosetta/Rosa. I would appreciate any info you may have. Thanks

Thank you
Thank you for the information concerning William Ferguson and his family. It is a considerable body of information, and it will take me a day or two to go through it, but it will be a valuable addition to my family tree. Thanks again, and I hope I we can be in touch again.
Sincerely,
Thomas Higgerson

David Victor Styers
Hi, Kat,
Thanks for the information regarding David Styers; we've incorporated his children, and connected to his parents. Some differences on birth and death: His stone shows death as 1985; U.S. Social Security Death Catalog gives his birth as 27 Oct 1900, death as Sep 1985 in Union Bridge. 1910 and 1920 U.S Census list him in North Carolina with his parents, with birth given as North Carolina in both cases. We won't be changing those parts. Thanks for your help, and have a Happy New Year.

Alta Marie McKinley
Hello Kat. I recently ran across your memorial for Alta Marie McKinley (Find A Grave Memorial# 81729723). I see that you have her maiden name as Barrow. I have always thought that Alta Marie was the daughter of Wiley P King and his wife Mary. Marie is listed in the 1920 and 1930 census as their daughter. Then in 1976 one of Wiley and Mary's sons James Elmer King listed a Marie McKinley as a surviving sister.
I'm afraid that James Elmer King's obituary may have lead me down the wrong path to the wrong Marie McKinley. If you can shed any light on Alta Marie's parentage, please let me know. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Lee and Barbara Waters
Marion Waters Spivey
Located in the Gladewater Memorial cemetery is My Great-Great Uncle Albert Charlie Waters (Find A Grave memorial 48202517) with his second wife Marion. Marion's name on the double stone is identified as Marion Waters Spivey (born 1905 - no death date). I wanted to know if you knew if Marion's maiden name was Spivey or if she married a Spivey after Charlie's death in 1953? There does not appear to be a Find A Grave memorial created for Marion.
