RE: Fleta Reese
I don't know. Remember you tried to transfer it back to me. I just received that this week. It was suddenly sitting there in my e-mail. So I went to the memorial and deleted it. It worked this time.

RE: Masakichi ABE
YES, ABE IS the surname !

AND I meant to add that my addition of m/f after first name was an attempt to distinguish male or female with unfamiliar Japanese names.

RE: M, Abe
Ms Allen, PLEASE see the Kishi Colony link that I sent you for a correct enumeration of the cemetery.

Abe, Masakichi(m. #78229216
b. unknown d. Feb. 4, 1916
Kishi Colony Cemetery
Terry Orange County
Texas, USA

I do NOT have access to the article you refer to. The link that I sent you was an enumeration compiled by family members who were familiar with the burials.

I can only surmise the author of the article relied upon the marker itself which if you will look at it provides only a first initial, M. The surname ABE NOT being a common one might have been thus confused perhaps thru a typo.

I would rely on the link to cem that I sent you having been compiled by folks who had first-hand knowledge:

http://hirasaki.net/Family_Stories/Kishi_Colony/Cemetery.htm

The HIRASAKIs are direct-line descendants of the KISHIs.

RE: Kishi Colony cemetery
ABE is the surname shown on the FAGrave interment page for the Colony cemetery:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2421795

While the marker itself is a source for some of the info relating to Mr ABE, I believe THE JAPANESE TEXANS by T. K. Walls also cited him.

The Historian of the Houston JACL Chapter would be a likely source for the Wall's book and further information

My pleasure. I was looking for a friends grave to take a picture, but the stone was not yet in place. So I decided to take pictures of the surrounding grave sites. So happy that someone connected with these pictures.

Hi Judy,

I submitted a headstone today for Lena Breaux and it appears that the years of birth and death that you submitted don't match up with her headstone. Just thought you would like to know. She's not my family...I'm just a volunteer. Sincerely, Missy Ivey (Orange, TX)
