Thanks for your note. The edit tab didn't work when I tried to add the link to their Canadian graves, so I wrote a note to with the links, and an explanation. I didn't hear back from them, but the edits went through!

Found some graves
Hi Debra,
Thanks so much for doing such a beautiful job of posting images on the memorials for my ancestors William Smith Sr. and Mary Het Smith, and their son William II and his wife, Janet Livingston.
The person who posted the memorials, with no biographical info, no burial sites, in need of proofreading, and linked to memorials with no info or burial sites, has disabled edits and blocked messages. However, I found where William II and his wife are buried:
I'm a volunteer photographer, but don't have much experience with how all this works. Am I supposed to create new memorials myself, write to f.a.g. "headquarters", or what do you think?
Thanks so much, Diana!
~Many blessings,

RE: William Henry Rose and his wife Georgianna
I scanned that book last fall, and its quite a piece of work. Given the huge amount of material and lack of computers and a means to verify, I can imagine a few errors creeping into it. I did find great photos of my wife's great grand-father and grandmother in it, plus her great grandmother. A for the photos of Georgianna and William, what a wonderful find, and grateful they've been shared. I wonder in time with all the scans yet to be done, if there will be a means of finding the same face in photos across the net. Google is in its infancy there right now.

Thanks for the note back.

William Henry Rose and his wife Georgianna
I always find it interesting when someone has been working on one memorial, and then somebody else comes along researching a spouse or child, and makes the connection here on Find A Grave. Six months ago, it wouldn't have happened. I was working on addition of family links for some Heyward children of Frances Smith Heyward. I spent some time researching Georgianna, and ran into so many dead ends, it was like she was mysteriously elusive. She had been visiting out of town in NC, when she died with little warning. I was extremely lucky to stumble on a newspaper obituary that made all the genealogical connections, along with her final burial location, Magnolia in Charleston. I just wanted to let you know she'd been found, and linked to her husband(his end was another sad story, that I know about). I added photos of them from the family tree. I hope they are both at peace now.

RE: William Perry
Hi Debra, no I'm not related to the Guerard, but I've done a good bit of research on them including those from Beaufort. One of the Guerard girls married a prince, and thus became a princess. She first married the heir to the A T & T fortune by the name of Hartford. I have her memorial under her marriage to the Prince. Her name was Pignatelli.

Thanks for the information on the Rev.

William Perry
Debra, thanks for the email about the Reverend William Perry. I wasn't able to locate any information on him at the English website you wrote me about. Where within their archives did you find the information on him? By the way are you related to the old Guerard families of lower South Carolina?

Patricia Guerard
Arthur Rose Guerard
Hi Debra, My name is Patty Guerard, and I am married to Christopher Guerard, son of Roland & Margo Guerard, and the youngest brother of Penelope Guerard Faintich. I am working on our side of the tree on Ancestry, and was given this link which has helped both of us find out so much more about our ancestors. Please feel free to contact us anytime.

Picture of Eugenie
I got the photo of Eugenie this morning, thank you! It does resemble the two others of her that I have, though she looks younger in the one you sent. Is the picture actually identified as Eugenie or do we just think it's her? I emailed you a few minutes ago regarding sending more photos so I hope that mail didn't go into Spam! Add my Earthlink addy to your address book and that should take care of that problem. Hope to hear from you again soon with the other pictures you mentioned. Thanks so much for sharing them with me!

RE: Eugenie
I still haven't gotten any email from you so there must be an issue. I will mail you from another email addy today and test it.

RE: Eugenie Engels Guerard
Hi there,

I emailed you at your AOL addy awhile back regarding the pic you have which you think might be Eugenie. Haven't heard from you so I was wondering whether you can send it to me or not. Did you get my mail? Hope to hear from you soon.

RE: Eugenie Engels Guerard
I've emailed you regarding the photo you believe is of Eugenie. I would like to see it. Thanks for sharing.

RE: Sir Robert Innes lineage
You're right about Henry VII being my 14X great grandfather. I wrote it down last night and realized I'd added a great! It's all very interesting. I've heard the old family story that Arthur Rose Guerard's second wife had been the governess or something and that they'd had an affair before his first wife Eugenie had passed away. The census records also brought up suspicions of the two girls being his daughters and being born while his first wife was alive. I remember some letter or story in the family that she died of a broken heart, but she probably had a heart attack. I think she passed away in 1900 in Flat Rock at the family home. I know about Roland Guerard, the famous ballet dancer, and I found a picture of him online that I saved to my computer. I have pictures of the Smiths and also have the book about Margaret Smith's brother who had something going on with Benedict Arnold. I do not actively research now and the computer on which I had my genealogical program with tons of information stopped working a long time ago so I can't access it which is a shame. My memory isn't all that great so the details of a lot of the family history I used to know are pretty hazy. Ancestry is a wonderful resource and helped me greatly while I was researching, but I can't afford it now. Thank you for sharing the Innes descent. I looked on the Peerage website, but couldn't find Margaret Innes as a daughter of Sir Robert, but she is listed as such in the Kilravock book.

RE: King Henry VII

Thanks very much for this interesting line of descent. I was more focused on the Roses when I was actively researching so this info on Margaret Innes and her direct line of descent from King Henry VII is fascinating. If this is accurate, and it seems that it is, then King Henry VII would be my 15X great grandfather! Since his wife was the daughter of King Edward IV, that makes us all directly descended from him and his wife Elizabeth Woodville as well. I've always been interested in English history and the Tudors so this just adds to that for me. I'm sure that the genealogies of the other women who married into the Rose family would also be quite interesting. Thanks!

RE: Arthur Rose Guerard
I am interested in the line of descent you have found which shows Alexander Rose as a direct descendant of King Henry VII. Would you mind sharing it with me?

RE: Arthur Rose Guerard

There are portrait miniatures of Alexander Rose and his wife Margaret Smith Rose in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and they can be seen on their website. Alexander Rose's son, Arthur Gordon Rose, was the father of Amelia L. Rose, who was Arthur Rose Guerard's mother. I used to be on Ancestry when I was actively researching. It is a wonderful resource.

Emma Eliza Guerard Rose
I'm sorry. I made an error in writing Emma Eliza's name in my previous message. Emma Elizabeth (Eliza) Guerard Rose is the correct name.

RE: Arthur Rose Guerard

I am a great great granddaughter of Arthur Rose Guerard and his first wife, Eugenie Elizabeth Engels. Their first child, Arthur Gordon Rose Guerard, was my great grandfather. From which child of Arthur and Madeline do you decend? I've had that copy of the portrait of Eliza Elizabeth Guerard Rose for long time and I don't remember how I got it. I think a distant relative sent it to me when I was doing research. Eliza married Arthur Barnwell Rose and her brother, Octavius Jacob Guerard married Amelia L. Rose, Arthur's sister. I have memorials to several Rose and Guerard ancestors on the Find A Grave site. Please check them out if you'd like.
