Meltons and Hamiltons of Lawrence County Tennessee
Hi...I am researching the Hamilton family of Lawrence Co TN. The particular branch I'm researching is of William H Hamilton (ca 1821-ca 1870), and wives, Malissa Jane (Yancy) Hamilton (ca 1825- between 1853-1855), Sarah (Sellers) Hamilton (ca 1836- ca 1865), and possibly Mary (Bryan) Hamilton. William and Sarah had a child, Thomas J Hamilton (ca 1859- ca 1870, age 11 years) who died young. There were other children by all the marriages who survived to adulthood. I know the family lived in the Lawrenceburg area from 1850-1870. After 1880, my branch moved to Texas. These above Hamilton names are NOT listed on Find A Grave in Lawrence Co TN and I do not know where they were buried, except that the family was living in Lawrence when the deaths occurred.

I saw where you had posted that you were related to Meltons. One report I have says that the Meltons were connected in some way, but I have not been able to ascertain how to my line.

If you know anything about this connection, I'd appreciate some help. Interestingly enough, this same family (my husband's) has Meltons in Alabama too, reportedly having American Indian blood, though I have been unable to prove it yet either.
Thanks, Lisa

"Thank you for the White transfers
My maternal great grandparents - I never knew where they were buried until I saw the memorials. Now I have found them." Hey, that's what makes this so worthwhile and so rewarding! I was more than happy to turn those memorials over their great-grandson :)

Simmons family
The caretaker had no record of the Simmons you were looking for. There were other Simmons in the Florence Cemetery but none by the name of Tennie or Eunice. I might have to walk the plots of the other Simmons to see if they were overlooked.
