The book is The History and Descendants of the Greer, Martin, and Related Families of Claiborne and Hinds Counties of Mississippi by Janice Martin Stockton, 1993.

You've gotten back as far as I have on those two branches. Arch Boyd, in particular, tends to be a stopping point, as family tradition has it that he and his brother, orphaned as teens in Kentucky, stowed away on a steamboat and came downriver to Grand Gulf.

There are chapters on both the Boyd and Boren families in the book, so I'll be happy to check anything that would be useful.

What I have electronically is at The most useful thing is likely to be the big spreadsheet, but some of the census pages could also be of use to you, I think.

On paper, I also have a copy of what I call the big green book, which is a history of the Boyd, Lyons, and other families from that corner of Hinds, Claiborne, and Copiah counties self-published by one of the cousins about 20 years ago. The binding makes it hard to scan from, but if there are specific families that you're looking for, I'll be glad to give it a shot.

Hello! I just saw that you left several messages for me. I am interested mainly on a death date for a Franklin Hazen Crooks. Born in Louisiana in 1842. I think he was buried at trinity, or Jena. When I look for census records for 1880 for trinity I get a blank page stating the town of trinity was omitted. Do u still have that book? Please get back to me as soon as u can.

John Crooks
Hi, Morgan! If I remember correctly his grave is on the left side (when you go in by the playground). Go all the way to the fence on that side and about half way down. His stone was hard to find--almost at the fence. Maybe that will help. If you want, I could meet you at Nolley and help you find it. Let me know if you want me to. We will be going to the LaSalle Volunteers luncheon tomorrow but that is all I have planned until church tomorrow night (for tomorrow). Good to see you again. Tommye

RE: Hi Linda
Daniel Webster Benefield - Hi Morgan, Thank you for writing. Unfortunately, I have no other information on Mr. Benefield. I just ran across his name as being buried in the Hook and Ladder cemetery.

Are you a descendent? Would you like his memorial transferred to you? If so, just let me know.

Take Care,

RE: Hi Doris
Will be glad to share my info on Artilisia Prescilia Crooks. I found her in a number of census records under different names. Have not found a date for her marriage to George Hebron. But she married her first husband, Daniel Webster Benefield, on 19 May 1881 in Catahoula Parish, LA. I found four children for them. Daniel died in Jefferson Parish, LA.

What particular things are you looking for?

Morgan, I'm having a brain drain this morning and can't seem to find Leo or Jody. Which cemetery are we talking about? Sorry I'm just getting back to you; my husband had surgery 3 weeks ago and I just had outpatient surgery myself. I would be happy to transfer them to you if you can give me their memorial numbers!

Hi Morgan! No I'm not. What made you think that I was? Was it a memorial that I have done?
I'm not from here but originally from Indiana? Let me know how you think we could be related!

RE: Pine Grove Cemetery
Hi! No, I live in Monroe. My parents are from Jena. I'm kin to the Peppers, Wilders, Smiths, Alliens, Goldens, Edwards, and Basses down there. All those Smiths and Edwards in Pine Grove (along with a couple of Floyds, Thurmans and Peppers) are my kin one way or another. Since so many of those in Pine Grove are my people, I'm slowly documenting the cemetery and adding information. I am using census images, marriage indexes and several historical books to get information out of. I want as much information added as I can get! As far as I know, I have no connection to Ozaner. Would you like for me to turn the memorial over to you so you can add more information? Like I said, I'd like these memorials to be as complete as possible!
