Upset again!!!
Well, I started to post some pictures of my relative's graves. There is a mass poster again..all the info wrong..takes no messages..does no work except trying to manage the most memorials. UGH! So, I guess I will be off-line again. What is the point of posting photos for memorials that are incorrect and the person does not care enough to want messages? I am going to do research now for individual requests only:)

Sorry I didn't check messages before now. Hope all is well. Friedens is confusing. Do you have some questions yet?

Dear Sally,

When I get back to the historical society, which I'm not sure when, as I'm presently not researching anything, I'll see what I can do. The books of which I am referencing are not online.

RE: Hello
Sally,

You are most welcome. I haven't been able to do so lately as I've had nothing but computer problems. Some day when I get the extra money to get it fixed or get a new one, I will be back in action taking photos. I am guessing that some of the requests were for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
The Friedens Lutheran Church located in Friedensville is in Center Valley, south of Allentown. It has nothing to do with the Friedens Church located in Washington Township. Several cemeteries for that church were created and Find A Grave merged them, which is why they are listed the way you see them.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I know what Friedens UCC is. You previously posted photos of their UCC signs on the correct church/cemetery for Friedens Church Cemetery. Friedens Church in the village of Friedens in Washington Township is currently a United Church of Christ. It was originally a Union Church, which meant that both Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Lutheran services were held in the church. Reformed Lutheran churches became the United Church of Christ about 1956. I thought you were stating that there was a separate cemetery on Find A Grave for Friedens UCC, which I was unable to locate. The Church connected to Friedens Church Cemetery is now (as stated above) Friedens United Church of Christ.

RE: Hello Lynn
The cemetery is at Heidelberg Union Church which has a Slatington address, even though it's not really near Slatington. The church is just about a mile away from Saegersville which is about 2 miles from Germansville.

I think it is correct to refer to the cemetery as the Heidelberg Union Church Cemetery. The very oldest tombstones are near the church on its south side and the later tombstones are on the hill behind the church on its north side.

The church still has a Lutheran and a UCC congregation (the old Reformed) which both hold services every Sunday morning. I play in the bell choir at the church, but am not a member and do not attend regularly--only when the bell choir is playing for services. Next year the church is celebrating its 275th anniversary.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally,

I'm trying to separate information to hopefully reduce the confusion. UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON is located on the West side of Route 873, north of Friedens and south of Slatington Borough. It is in Washington Township. There is only one listing for it on Find A Grave. This is the link to it.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I wish I could type in another color or font to respond further to this, so I'm going to type in ALL CAPS. I hope my information below clarified some things but I see I might have missed parts of your question so I'll provide specific info here.

"but it was in Washington Twp. on same road as Union Cemetery, Rte. 873 & 7th St., Slatington, Lehigh Co., PA 18080. I'm confused. I never saw the name Union any where on the church, signs or cemetery."

SEE BELOW--SIGNS ADDED AUGUST 2014. LOIS HAD THEM ADDED TO CEMETERY PAGE. ROUTE 873 AND 7TH STREET DON'T RUN INTO EACH OTHER. CEMETERY IS ON THE CORNER OF ROUTE 873 AND CEMETERY ROAD.

"Find A Grave also lists another closely named cemetery Friedens UCC church cemetery with the same address in Washington Twp."

I COULDN'T FIND A LISTING FOR FRIEDENS UCC CHURCH CEMETERY.

"Find A Grave has cemeteries: Friedens Reformed Cemetery, Lehigh Co. Union Cemetery, Rte. 873 & 7th St., Slatington, Lehigh Co., PA 18080 which is the one I created after visiting it."

THIS IS THE CEMETERY THAT I HAVE REQUESTED TO HAVE MERGED WITH FRIEDENS CEMETERY. I'M COMPLETELY CONFUSED WITH THE NAME YOU HAVE FOR THIS AND THE ADDRESS. DO YOU KNOW HOW YOU CAME UP WITH THAT INFORMATION?

Then Friedens UCC church cemetery, Washington twp. ALL ARE ON Find A Grave SEPARATELY.

AGAIN, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND FRIEDENS UCC CHURCH CEMETERY IN WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP. COULD YOU PROVIDE THE LINK SO I CAN LOOK AT IT? I HOPE THIS HELPS.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally,

I see that you added cemetery and church photos to Friedens Cemetery. The cemetery that you added the photos to is the correct Friedens Cemetery. Someone has added a duplicate cemetery with 6 burials. I have sent a request to Find A Grave to merge the incorrect cemetery with the correct cemetery. I have also provided them with the physical address, phone number, GPS coordinates, AKA names, and a detailed description about the physical location of the cemetery and requested that they add the information to the cemetery page to, hopefully, reduce/eliminate the confusion.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I would be happy to help you understand the cemeteries in the area. The municipalities can be confusing. Union Cemetery of Slatington did not have a sign until August of this year when Slatington celebrated it's 150th Anniversary. I'm going to look at all the cemeteries and submit them to Find A Grave admins as needed for correction and merging. Friedens (Reformed) UCC Church and Cemetery is located on Route 873 in the VILLAGE of FRIEDENS, which is located in WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, just south of SLATINGTON BOROUGH. It has nothing to do with Union Cemetery. I have all of the birth, marriage, and burial records in my possession, some of them are on my website, but not all in order not to violated copyright.

UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON is located in WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, just south of SLATINGTON. 7th Street and Route 873 DO NOT CONNECT anywhere. UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON is located at ROUTE 873 and CEMETERY STREET. Route 873 is the East boundary of the cemetery and Cemetery Road runs along the South boundary of the cemetery, except that they just opened a new section of the cemetery on the opposite side of Cemetery Road, on the edge of a farmer's field. The Slatington Library has the cemetery records on CD.

HEIDELBERG UNION CEMETERY is located on Irwin Road in HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, 10 to 15 minutes from SLATINGTON BOROUGH. It has no connection to Slatington, other than a Slatington postal address.

Lois Rumble Revenaugh, a friend of mine, has taken photos of every grave in FRIEDENS, UNION CEMETERY OF SLATINGTON, NEFFS UNION CEMETERY, and SLATEDALE CEMETERY. She is in the process of uploading them. I have gone out with her to photograph graves. She goes row by row and she is one of the few who has memorials that I trust.

I hope this helps. If there is any other information you would like, let me know. I'd be happy to help you get things straightened out and end your confusion.

RE: Hi Gwyn
Friedens has always been a mystery to me. My step-daughter-in-law's father is a Lutheran minister. He was the rector at Friedens in Center Valley. The cemetery has both a new and very old section. It seems like there are numerous Friedens cemeteries.

RE: Frieden's church question location
Union Cemetery is in Slatington. They didn't have any signs on that cemetery until August when they celebrated their 150th anniversary. I have now taken a pic of the sign and posted it to Union Cemetery.

I entered Hannah from cemetery records. The relationship to Timothy was calculated by the entry of Timothy by T Moore who probably sent me the maiden name. Perhaps T Moore can shed some light on the situation.

Rose Hills in Whittier
Go to www.rosehills.com and click on the grave locator service. You can find the grave location there. The guards are at gate 1 - Lionda is at gate 17 - quite a distance away considering Rose Hills is the largest cemetery in the USA.

Thanks.

Emily Richards, Philadelphia National Cemetery
Hello Sally,

Regarding your request for Emily Richards' photo at Philadlephia National Cemetery: The gravestone at the site mentions only Philip. See Find-A-Grave Memorial #2546856.

Generally, only the male soldiers are buried at this cemetery, although it is not uncommon for soldiers' wives to be buried with them. In these cases, the wife's name and death information is usually inscribed on the reverse side of the gravestone. In this case, the reverse side of Philip's gravestone is blank, and neighboring stones do not mention Emily. Children generally are not buried at the National Cemetery.

The PA Dept. of Health's death indexes list an Emily S. Richards as having died in Philadelphia on December 22, 1924. The certificate number is 122485. You may order her death certificate from the PA State Archives using this form. The Free Library of Philadelphia also has old newspapers in which you might find an obituary that confirms her burial location.

Regards,
Tim G.

RE: spouses different cemeteries
The Klotz family lived in Lowhill Twp. - where Morgenland Cemetery is located. The family attended Jordan Lutheran Church, along with several Lowhill Twp. families - including my Moser family.
It really is not such a stretch that the spouses would be buried in different cemeteries, especially when they died 15 years apart.
