RE: zorobabel Hill Irons (Babel Irons)
I am sorry to say but I have no relation to Zorobabel. I came across his memorial and loved his unique name. It sounds like a perfect sea captains name.

RE: Clarks
I am descended from Samuel H. Clark as well--through his son David.
I poke around in Ancestry and see various people attached to John Clark as parents and no one provides even a hint of evidence. Some are completely bogus. I have tried to follow some of the alleged names and the hunting just did not make me think there was anything to it. No one has documentation. Of course it does not help when the key people moved so many times in their lives.

I have not turned up an obit or probate record from the Marysville area for John. I purposely put extra info in the Findagrave memorial for John so there could be a slight chance it would help someone else. Just difficult hunting someone with such a common name.

I may be able to photograph more of the Deer Creek Cemetery this coming weekend with a rare trip back home and I can make it be along the route.

RE: Reubin Martin's children, again.

Good day Genevieve,

Please place this on hold, we are looking at 2 wives. This info I did not have earlier.

There are 2 children sharing the same first name, but it is John.

I do not want to add to the confusion but I believe some of the links associated already with Reubin Martin are incorrect. Too often cousins and siblings were named after the relatives. If I can find the burial place of some of the ones I am doubting I can straighten it out. This will be on my list, but not at the top.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thank you for contributing to Mary Shourds Pettit memorial
Hello, thanks for your info regarding Mary Pettit's maiden name being Shourds. If you turn up any dates or records of birthplace etc., please do let me know.
I hate to estimate as there's no way to mark it as such, and people will copy the info as fact.

RE: Military headstone
Sorry for the late reply! Yes, the VA will provide a free headstone but you would have to arrange for someone to receive and install it. This can be tricky if the grave in question is somewhere other than a proper cemetery that is still under management. Sometimes you can find local historical organizations that might do it, but you would almost certainly have to still pay someone. You would also need to get permission from the property owner if it's on someone else's private property now.

Hope that helps, and best of luck!

RE: Virginia Harper at Willoughby Cemetery
Hello again - thank you for offering to transfer the memorial. That would be very nice and since you don't mind I could receive it with excitement. Marimon H. Harper is Virginia Harper's husband and if you could find it pleasing to do so I would also be thrilled to manage Marimon's as well.

I never met my father, a Harper out of Elbert County, Colorado. So being able to find my relatives has been extremely satisfying to one who met not one of his father's relatives.

Thank you for you kindness,

Kind Regards,

Jack Harper
Descendant of Marimon and Virginia Harper

Scotten Cemetery
Hi, Just to let you know that the book I had referred to has been printed. We only had 25 copies made because not sure of who would want one. Two cemeteries are in it-the Scotton/Scotten and the Burris-Hendricks. If you are at all interested, you are welcome to contact me at It is 300 pages, spiral bound and cost $14 plus shipping. I can tell you more if interested. Cyndie

RE: Scotten Cemetery
We also have Scotten/Scotton families in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Hancock County and I think Burris Cemetery also. I found the name spelled both ways when researching this family. I don't think that these people are in any way related to me/my husband. I just research the lines when I work with a pioneer cemetery because the people buried in them typically have some type of connection.

RE: Boice Cemetery

The uncovered stone for Abraham Boice is located in St Paul's Cemetery in Geigertown. I had not uploaded the memorial indicating this information on Abraham's record on Findagrave, but have done so now for you to view.

I do not know the circumstances as to why they were removed from the Boice Burial ground to St. Paul's. Often remains are moved to make way for new construction or things like that. I don't know where the original Boice Family Cemetery was located ... do you?). St. Paul's was probably chosen because the Wells family were from that area. I also have some distant (non-direct) Wells connetions.

As it happens, I will be helping with a Boy Scout project in St. Paul's Cemetery this coming Saturday, so I'll see if I can find anything more.

Find A Grave Correction: Rosalie Shimek
I really appreciate the Obit from the Cuba Tribune. Thank you for sending it; I have added it to her memorial.

Do you have any information about her parent's names? It would be nice to add Family Links to them, if they are listed in FindaGrave, that is!

As a little boy, I spent a lot of time in Cuba and knew some Shimek's but do not remember their first names; it had to be some of her children because I was only 3 years old when she died!

Thank you for your help.
