Old and New Overlook
Hi again Paul,

I have just finished an FYI list of who I have buried in the New Overlook. Would you care to have a copy of it? If so is there an email I can send it to?

Old and New Overlook

Added by Anne on Dec 19, 2015 2:24 PM

RE: success
Well, by my calculations (from my photos) there are approx 79 names on stones in the new cemetery with about 68 actual burials. That would mean that there are about 100 memorials that are in new that are actually in old. As to the number of members I do not know how many different ones there are, short of clicking on each one.

Guess I just need to construct a form edit of sorts that explains the two different but same named cemeteries.

Well, I have finally finished moving "my" memorials over to Old Overlook.
What that leaves now is to send edits for the rest. Don't know how well that will go. Any suggestions for a winning message that they can't say "no" to?

edit declines
hope the decline edits came through correctly. Wasn't sure which reason to select, figure it wouldn't matter too much as I deleted the memorial.

RE: Overlook old/new cemetery
Well, I think you are absolutely correct. They should be two separate pages. That being said, I am going to delete my copies of the memorials that you already have in "Old". I am also going to, over the next few days or so (when my internet allows) transfer my memorials from "new" to your "old" page. Not sure how one does it but maybe adding something to the "info" of Overlook Cem. explaining the side by side cemeteries would help.

Keep your fingers crossed that this goes smoothly!!

RE: Overlook old/new cemetery
Hi Paul,

I know what you mean. It does certainly appears to be two separate cemeteries.
When I decided to photograph Overlook I realized the Find A Grave page was a bit confusing. It wasn't until I got there that I realized the number of stones did not match the number of names on the memorial page, and that just down the road was the rest of it.
It appeared that whoever started the page decided to combine them as one. When I added names I just figured I would follow suit. (I was not aware until recently that you had started your page for the Old cemetery). Not quite sure what to do here. Do you know any of the history of these two cemeteries? Does the town consider it one or two?

Overlook old/new cemetery
Hi Paul,

We seem to have some duplication of some memorials. It also seems that you had started a page for "Old Overlook Cemetery" that only has your memorials in it. Those memorials are also in the Overlook Cemetery.
I do have one solution that may work for this situation. If you would be willing to change the burial location of your memorials in Old Overlook to the Overlook cemetery page I would be happy to delete all of the duplicates that we have. I am not family to any of these people, merely the photographer of the cemetery.

Let me know if this works for you.

Vanness Gardner
Hi Paul,
You sent an edit to add a father for Vanness Gardner, but it lists himself as his own father. :> I think you can edit the edit or else I can just click to decline this one and then you can send another edit message. I will wait on it a bit to see what you do. Thanks.

If I read your Edit right, you are suggesting that Ellen is NOT married to Edgar? I am finding indications that he was. Including a death certificate for his daughter Ina Estella Gott that lists her mothers maiden name as Fisher.

Dirlam line

Just curious what connection you have to the Dirlams. My mom was a Dirlam.

Dirlam genealogy

I believe I'm your fifth cousin! That is, if you're descended from John Oderick Dirlam. I'm descended from John's son Orrin and I'm pretty sure you're descended from Sylvanus. I'd like to know if you've pursued Dirlam genealogy extensively and, if so, whether you've found any Dirlam/Durlam descendants of John Oderick's son Frederick. In spite of his having 13 or so children, I have only found one Durlam descended from him. That's Frank B Durlam, son of Jonathan L. I also found Leslie Frederick Bean, son of daughter Mary Jesse Durlam and Dennis Orrin and Mary B Wallace, children of Betsy Anne Durlam. But that's it. No apparent additional Durlams.

Let me know if there are any Dirlam mysteries I might be able to help solve.

Erza A Dirlam
born: Aug 1892 Medina County, Ohio
died: 14 May 1979 Norwalk, Huron Co
buried: Huntington Center Cemetery, Huntington Lorain Co Ohio
Ernest Baker Dirlam 1867 Huntington 1932 Oberlin
Charlotte Peet 1870 Huntington - 1943 Wellington, Lorain County

Husband 1: James G Holland
born 1889 Huntington, Lorain Co. death unknown
I cannot locate after 1942
He was the administrator for a children's home
I believe no children came from this marriage

Husband 2: Clayton Elbert Mills
1898 Pittsfield, Lorain Co. - 1981 Norwalk, Huron Co. Ohio
he had 2 sons from his first marriage with Treva Lee (1897 1992):
Robert Arthur Mills 1921 1991 birth/death Huron Co, Ohio
and Lee Alfred Mills 1925 1990 birth/death Norwalk, Huron County

My best guess is the marriage is in the 1950s around Norwalk, Huron County, or Lorain County.
This is where I lose track of information for Clayton and his first wife, then marriage to his second wife, Erza.

I think Erza did not have children of her own. But I am very interested to know more about her and her life with Clayton.
I have such good information regarding Clayton's mother. And pretty good information about his father. I have been researching his mother's family (my family)...
Clayton & Erza are buried in Huntington

RE: Dirlam Family inquiry
Verrazano had a granddaughter Erza, who remarried my relative Clayton Elbert Mills in the norwalk, Ohio area. I would love to talk with her family, and have some Mills photos of interest. Otherwise, I had been investigating the Dirlam family to fill out my understanding of who Erza was, and where she and her people had come from. I found such an interesting story with Verrazano and his brother Theodore. I have made a time line on Verrazano's Memorial #40895125. Clayton Mills parents both came from pioneer families to Lorain County. Judy West

Dirlam Family inquiry
I am researching the Dirlam Family, and just created Memorials for Orrin (Memorial # 105714870) and wife. This allowed me to connect to his mother Sarah Snow Dirlam. I am trying to locate the father John Dirlam and wonder if he moved as Orrin and Sylvanus did to the Green Creek or even the Lorain County area... Do you have any research on Sylvanus's father?
