I have a picture, I believe, is little Betty McCoy. I've added it to her site #33312190.

RE: Mabel Alice Asher McCoy

Bless you. I figured she would be up there with my Aunt Hazel - never to be found.

I know the sister was murdered by her husband. I had hoped to find her obit to determine Mabel's last name. I'm really impressed. Do you suppose Lonnie, Jr. is still alive?

Thanks to you I now know more about the McCoys than I did.

Thanks loads.

Buck Olaver
I added a photo of his headstone today. I notice that the birth year says 1889 on the stone (which is not always accurate).

Mabel Asher (McCoy)

I think I found Mabel. There is a SS record for a Mabel Asher 01/18/1910 - 01/10/2005.

I suspect she and Uncle Lon never married. Mabel is not on Find A Grave, but if the record is correct she died at age 95 in the State of Washington.

I'm not sure you can help, but I'm trying to track down Mabel Asher, Frank's daughter.

Mabel may or may not have married my great uncle. It is a little difficult to determine if the marriage was legalized. He was Lonnie McCoy. Lonnie had 5 daughters by his first wife, but we're not sure he ever divorced her.

Mabel Asher was the mother of Lonnie Edward McCoy, Jr. who may just be still alive but apparently not living in Phoenix.

What would help is a copy of Mabel's sister's obit as it might give some clue to Mabel's last name. The sister was Leila Mayfield Asher Heard (11/19/1903 - 04/11/1959). Should be easy to find since she was murdered by her husband, William Guy Heard - murder/suicide.

Uncle Lon died in 1949. Mabel may have remarried in that 10 year span.

Of course, I'm operating on the assumption that you live in Arizona. If not...I hope you enjoyed this tale.

Hi Becky

I log in to see if any changes have occurred. Are you sure Mabel's last husband was a Buck Olaver? O'Haver maybe. There are NO Olaver's on Find A Grave. Seems strange.

Lost a dear uncle last month. Sad. Keep in touch. Marie still with us?

I'm impressed that you did further investigations into Mabel's family. Looks like Hattie had a rough existence.

If I remember, you don't live in AZ. I have a close friend who lives in Phoenix. I can ask if she will look up Leila's obit to see if there is mention of a sister.

I did have one more picture that I had taken that showed Charles' grave next to his brother Moses, but could not add it to the memorial due to the limit of five pictures.

I did want you to know that indeed he is buried next to Moses.

George McCay
George McCay is my GG grandfather. Thank you for the picture of him, I get so excited when I get to see a family member.

I also saw that you had put Stephen and Young's pictures on Find a Grave too. My question is: My Great Grandmother is Virginia Catherine McCay, and she married John Wesley Wilson. With you having pictures of 2 of her brothers, might you have a picture of her and maybe John Wilson too? We have searched and searched to find someone who might have one of the. We have no idea what they looked like because my grandfather, Clifford Wilson, was only 19 when his father died.

I appreciated your help if maybe you can lead me in some direction.

Thank you again for sharing the photos of the 3 McCay's.

Thanks Becky, I am so glad to have the photo. A friend from Find A Grave at Pleasant Hill Cemetery went over last year and found a bunch of McCays but couldn't find Althea. On getting the DAR for Samuel Bonnet I believe I found where Hanna Straley McCay is buried, at the McKendra Cemetery outside Colfax with her 3 children. The cemetery is old and not in good shape. Do you have any idea where John and Jane McCay are buried? Are they at the Sutton? Tracey said there are a lot of McCays stacked up against a tree and hard to read. Maybe I can get over to Pulaski and Clinton counties this summer if it every cools down. Joyce said something about a new book on the McCays you were writing. I would love a copy of it. Thanks again. Sherry
