Benoni Lewis Service Rev
Bonnie, I am trying to get Benoni in the Daughters of the American Revolution patriot list. He is an gggggrandfather of mine. I can not find an official record of his service. What state did he fight under? I've researched RI and CT. Washington Co. History says he was a Captain on an ocean ship and worked in the commissary. But I find no service, payroll, or pension record. Marietta has no will only land records for Benoni. I also need to prove Solomon was his son and find no proof for this. I have been researching for 3 years and have tried most sources such as Fold3. Please let me know if you have any lead.

Thank you for attempting - I know what you mean about overgrown as one has to watch out for the creeping vines that can catch and almost trip you. Do not put yourself in perile. Looking for the gravestones should be fun--I got a good laugh at your 'loppers' comment. Again..thanks for the effort put into this.

RE: Christian Behrens
No problem. I was working a section of that cemetery where everyone seemed to have died in 1918, 1919, or 1920--probably from that deadly strain of influenza that killed more people than all of the casualties in World War I. I wouldn't be surprised if Christian was a victim as well. Maybe you could find a death certificate to either confirm or deny it. Just a thought.

Bonnie,
No problem. I'm sure you saw I shot the other two Behrens stones as well. Two were next to each other and the third wasn't too far away from the others. Enjoy!

You are so welcome. Check back, if I get the opportunity I will clean the stone a bit and get a better photo.
