George Hickman Dowell
George was the son of George Weir Dowell and Lizzie B. Madden. George married Mollie Mae Simon, my ancestor. My records show that George Weir Dowell was a son of Reuben Hickman Dowell and Emily Jane Harris Dowell.

RE: Janette Yates Whitehead
Janette (Nettie) Yates Whitehead is my great grandmother on my mother's side of the house.
I wouldn't mind linking Janette to her mother if I can figure out how to do it. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the link.

George Hickman Dowell
I'm related to George Hickman Dowell as he married my ancestor Mollie Mae Simon. I'm interested in any photos, info, etc that you or other Dowell people may have to "fill in some holes". I have no photos of Mollie. Her father, John Simon, was the brother to my great grandfather.

Jeduthan and Letutia Hopkins
Greetings, R.J.,

I very frequently miss the notes that people have posted for me on the Find-A-Grave site, since my life is very busy and I don't find the time to log-on often. However, I'm glad to read that you came across the Hopkins memorials that I created.
FYI: The wonderful old book by Timothy Hopkins, entitled: "John Hopkins of Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1634, and some of his descendants," is accessible via (link for search engine, attached below). Finding specific people in the book is a bit of a laborious process; however, the results are worthwhile. I posted two pages from the above-referenced book on the Hopkins memorials, that pertain to Jeduthan and Letutia Hopkins.
Thanks, once again, for your kind words. I hope your grandmother enjoyed the memorials.
Peace and blessings,
Cathy Porter-Maynard

Dowell family history
If you are interested I have some Dowell family history that was given to my mother in 2001. She received it from a lady in Independence whose mother was Nancy Bell Dowell Stroud, a daughter of Reuben and Emily. Contact me at and I will be glad to scan in this information and send it to you.

RE: Edward Ball photo
Hi R.J.,
Sorry about not getting your email with my other address. My husband sometimes tosses things if he doesn't recognize a name.
Yes, I am related to Edward Ball and Josephine White Ball. Their daughter, Florence Rosalia Ball was married to Leonard Franklin Morehead and that makes them my great grandparents. One of their daughters, Mary Adeline Morehead married George Ellison and they were my wonderful grandparents! I would love to have copies of any photos you are willing to share. I don't have hardly any photos. I think I only have 2 or 3 of my grandparents, and none of anyone else.
Please reply to the following email address: It is case sensitive so be sure to use all lower case letters. I'll tell my husband not to delete anything from R. J. Dowell.
Thank you so much for emailing me and I'm looking forward to hearing from you very soon.

I love the photo of Edward Ball! Do you have an original photo and how do you conncet into this line? Also, how do I find the cemetery and are there other family members of Edward in the Varner Cemetery?
Thank you for your help. Mary

RE: Thank you!!
You are most welcome. I had a very difficult time getting to Ephraim, Jr and his wife Mary. Their stones, as well as others, are inside a HUGE shrub. If you are not aware, I made comments on most of the photos if you click them on.

Ephraim, Sr and his wife Mary were pretty easy but Mary's stone was broken. Glad to make everyone happy. Have a wonderful weekend.

RE: Thank you!
Did some checking and found one other stone that I photographed, but it's a son of Mathew
(Hopkins, Augustus Orab_, son of Mathew & Patty Hopkins, died Sept. 7th 1829; aged 1 year). Perhaps I will get a chance later this summer to return to this cemetery, if so, I will try to find your 5th great grandfather's memorial.

RE: Thank you!
I'm so sorry to have mistaken the son for the father. I'm usually more careful on these things. I'll do some checking and see if I can find the tombstone for his father. If for any reason I don't, please create a entry for his son and let me know, I'll withdraw the image and resubmit it on the correct person. Best regards. Robert

RE: Goff and Patton photographs
That's interesting about your grandfather!

My grandpa was Delmar Goff, memorial #61496874. He isn't buried in the same cemetery. I think I have some pictures of Everrett. I'll have to look through what I have again and scan them if I find any.

Thanks again!

Thank you for the photos of the Goff and Patton headstones in the Byron-Amorita Cemetery. Would you mind if I used them for my grandfather's family tree?

RE: Paul Frieden
R J,
Sarah (Frieden) Lorenz Wing was my great grandma and a few of the others were her siblings. Leah (Lorenz) Kiefer was my great grandpa's sister. I'm still trying to figure out the relations of some of the Friedens.

Thanks again,

Paul Frieden
By the way,did you happen to see Paul Frieden? He was a brother to Sarah Wing born ~1896. I haven't been able to confirm where he died. Since many of the siblings are buried here, I thought I'd ask if you've seen his headstone.

Sarah Wing
Thank you for Sarah Wing's headstone picture! I love the angle you took which happened to have her siblings in the background. She was my great grandma. She died before I was born so in a way this helps me feel closer to her.
Warm regards,
Lesli McCully
