Hi Penny, it's been a WHILE! I recently added a new photo to "our" cemetery. Can you ask admin to remove the older ones? I was going to post another one but wanted to wait and see if they were smart enough to remove the old ones for the new ones.. Nope they have to be TOLD. Tks and hope all is well! ............Jan

You have James' first wife as Mary E Laney. I thought Mary was married to James' brother, John, who died young (20 something...) can you please share your source with me for this info? You mention in his bio that you have combined several sources, obit... Would you be willing to share a copy? I am currently working in this branch. -myra

I had contacted you about 6 mos ago, because you kindly posted a picture of my dad's grave, and I had you add a little to the info about him. I didn't know at the time that it was possible to transfer the memorial to a person other than the one who originally posted it. I just learned that last night, and now I'm wondering if you would mind transferring his grave to me. I am his only child, and there is no one closer who will ever be asking for this honor. His name is Robert Irwin Thorniley, and his grave is # 121180590.

Penny, I want to thank you so much for all you do for others through Find A Grave. I am trying very hard to put as much on Ancestry and Family Tree Maker as I can of family history so that my descendants and others can view their heritage. I am no longer able to visit cemeteries because of age and health, but thanks to Find A Grave I can still visit them. Thanks to people like you I CAN view where they rest. I hope you will not mind my using copies of your photos in my family files. I have had so many gracious people to help me along. In my contacting others for permission I have only had two out of well over 200 to be less than helpful. May God bless you as you try to preserve and help others with records through Find A Grave.

Thank you for willing to transfer Sonya to me. We were 1st cousins 1x. Her papaw & My papaw were brothers. We were close growing up then got back in touch several years ago, with all the research we did. I was so glad to have the time with her that I did, like you said despite her health issues.
I guess we would be related by marriage as they say :-)
I truly appreciate you doing this and taking the time to take care of these memorials.

Hi Penny, it's been a while! I cleaned up Old Fairview (again) prior to Memorial day and even found yet another name/stone. I'll be getting more of the stones out from under the sod and hope to get this cemetery back in shape and identify more of them. Hope all is well. ......Jan

This grave belongs to Mary Caroline Campbell, who was born Aug. 15, 1843 and died Oct. 17, 1843. She was the daughter of William Campbell (Find A Grave Memorial# 30425689) and Martha Amelia Slaysman Campbell (Find A Grave Memorial# 30425850).
I certainly appreciate all your work for the Find a Grave website. I use it often and appreciate those, like you, who take the time and make the effort to add information to it. Having worked on genealogy for some time, I know the time and effort it takes. Thanks again for sharing both of these so unselfishly.

Thanks so much for the picture of my 5th great-grandparents headstone. I really appreciate your assistance.

I was surpised you didn't have any photos from the Greenwood Cemetary in Indiana County PA. I believe I have seen Lydick headstones there. Next time I am up, if I happen to see it, I will try to remember to take a pic. Thank you for what you have done. I agree about the nameless markers. I see some and wonder, "who were they?"

Penny, do you have a layout for this cemetery? I am restoring the cemetery as that the last caretaker passed away a few years ago and no one has maintained it since. A tree fell in the middle of the cemetery and the weeds are knee high ontop of fallen weeds (thick undercoating). I'd like to know what I am looking for etc. Several stones were knocked over by the tree or pushed aside.
Thanks Jan (email@example.com)

I am not directly related to them and have no problem transfering them to you. Just go to the pages you want transfered and let me know your number through that page.

I really appreciate your information and I will be following up on the Majors. It seemed like there several Benjamin Majors in that area for that period, but I will persist on the trail!
I also appreciate your efforts on the Find A Grave project. I have already used some of the information in my IL graves. Thanks for this project!
Thanks again for your email and good luck to you and your worthy project.

Benjamin Major was my gggrandfather (1815-1870)who was born in PA. His wife was Abigail B. Creath and had three daughters, two of whom were born in PA. Have not been able to verify the location in PA.
My daughter and I have been trying to verify the link between Benjamin Major, Sr. (1788-1847) who died in Lewistown, Mifflin, PA.
Can you help us find this link?
Many thanks, Penny.

|G. Mounger||Leander Lingar Find A Grave|
Well I would be happy to link your Charles Huston to his father but you will have to do that, I did not put your grandfather Charles into find a grave, you can do that by going to the edit button on your grandfather Charles site and putting in Leander's find a grave number under his parents. Than it will link the two.
I am so happy you wrote I had no idea that your family had gone to Pa.
Now we have more family to add to ours.
Have a Blessed day and if I can help please feel free to eamil any time.
Oh by the way I am realated via John Jack Lingar wife Sarah Chumley. She is my thrid great aunt. I and a big number of Chumley researchers are compiling a book on the Chumley line of Robert and Elizabeth Ford Chumley.

|Harry Fyock||Old Fairview Cemetery|
Hello Penny --- My name is Harry Fyock and I am interested in Old Fairview as I have some relatives buried there. I am decended from the Jonathan Burkey line from Indiana County. My mother was Bertha Alice Burkey daughter of Jonathan and wife Sarah Ellen Whitacre.
Four maybe 5 years ago after a visit to the cemetery and becoming disgusted with the condition it was in I contacted people in Indiana County and was able to initiate a clean up - looked much better last time I was there 2 years ago.
The Rairigh family who owns Rairigh Family in Hillsdale, PA are distant relatives of mine also.
I am glad to have located you. I have an e-mail address at firstname.lastname@example.org
Regards - Harry

Penny, Thanks for the kind words in your message and the hint about Old Fairview. Please check that cemetery now. Sometimes I forget what I have archived in my computer and it gets placed on the back burner...so-to-speak. Growing old and forgetful is not fun except when one considers the alternative.
Also, here are some updates for you for this Old Fairview Cemetery.
