RE: Photo request Alice Hood
Hi,

I am so happy that you asked and to hear from you. I was there again, didn't find Alice Hood, but decided to check Find A Grave to see if people had posted memorials without images.

Discovered that Find A Grave has 2 cemeteries for the same location. 'Ruddell Pioneer Cemetery' AND 'Woodlawn Cemetery'.

The times that I have been there, no one was around to ask or they have had a funeral.

I checked some recent obits and they mention "memorial service will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery" yet on this site Ruddell Pioneer Cemetery is the larger of the two. Called a friend who buried his wife there about 6 months ago and he calls it "Ruddell Road Cemetery"!!!

Needless to say, I am confused. Am fairly new to the area. My husband happened to die at St. Peter's while I was here helping my folks at Panorama. We were living in Seattle and his death forced a choice (knew nothing and no one down here and selected Mills & Mills).

Any thoughts?

Thanks much,

Beth

Me again ...
Haven't lived here too long ... about 5 yrs. The funeral I attended this afternoon was almost as large as the one earlier today. First time that I had every been in the building.

The 'staff' excused everyone from the chapel except the family. Should send this via email; it was a very nice service, different from any I have ever attended. Everyone in attendance was asked to meet at a restaurant and wait for the family. The crowd was so large that the people I was with decided to go on to the restuarant. Stayed around for a few minutes longer thinking that at least one staff person would be available ... Have to apologize, never did get an opportuniy to speak to anyone.

Am only 2 miles away, would it make sense for me to stop in and ask? I pass it often, but had never stopped and walked the rows. Today was just too beautiful to not take that opportunity. What a great cemetery. Need to check the site here and see who is actually buried there. Have not had a lot of time in the past 4 years to learn about this area, but even I recognized some of the surnames. If this great weather stays around, I plan on going back REAL soon.

One thing that impressed me was how old broken stones are being preserved.

Anyway, if I am closer or can be of any help, please let me know and I will figure out how to obtained the information for you.

Hi Elizabeth,

I am at the Pioneer Cemetery right now. I stopped to check on a funeral this afternoon. Thought I would leave you a FYI ... Have never seen this many cars here. They are so busy, have decided not to go in to ask my question.

If you would like since I have to return later today, I might be able to ask for the grave location for you.

Left me know, if that would be of any help.

Thanks,

Beth in Lacey
