RE: parents of John Johnson McLain
I am getting so excited now that I am making some progress in my search.

I did try to email the last message to you but it failed. I used the email address listed on the Find a grave site.

I would love to have any photos you have.

I found a bookmaker today at Office Depot on clearance for $25. I plan to make at least 10 hard back books of the McLain family.

None of this would be possible if you had not helped me.

Many thanks,

RE: parents of John Johnson McLain
The only thing close that I could find on John McLain was an 1880 census showing his last name as "McLane" - it seems to fit as far as names and ages of everyone. He was 48, Elizabeth 44, John 14 (he was born in 1866). it shows three sons: William, Austin, John; four daughters: Margaret, Arizona, Elzada and Hettie. They resided in Kansas. Both John and Elizabeth were born in Indiana.

Is this correct?

Aunt Gotina lives in Miami, Ok., now:
2128 Denver Harper #20, Miami 74354. Phone is 918*542-4328. I don't know if it is assisted living or a nursing home. I spoke with her in early April near her birthday. She seemed very alert. I hope I do that well at her age.

Thanks again for your help,

Yes, I am Bonnie's daughter. She passed away several years ago. It is so nice to meet you via internet.

I have not been very successful in my history search. I did not realize there would be so many John McLains. I know his birthdate would have to be somewhere around 1840. Do you know the year?

Also, I have not been able to go back on Mom's side very far. Her parents were Alonzo Decalvis Johnson (1857-1934) and Mary Elizabeth Lytle Johnson (1868-1944). I have a photo of her from 1845. She was called "Mauie." Do you know the parents of Alonzo and Mary Elizabeth.

I have been trying to finish up the McLain history in order to give a copy to Aunt Gotina, my mother's sister. She is the only one left. She is 96 and I don't know how many years she has left.

I would so appreciate any help you can give me.

RE: parents of John Johnson McLain
I believe so. I am the granddaughter of Harvey and Lewadrian "Lula" Mclain. They lived in Oklahoma City from 1934 until their death. I use to receive Mclain newsletters from Fern. I think her last name was Qualls.

Big Pop, Harvey, was born in 1893. Big Mom was born in 1889.

parents of John Johnson McLain
I am at a deadend in my family history search until I know the true parents of John Johnson McLain.

One site says his parents are Henry T. McLain and Elizabeth Allen.

Another site says his parents are John McLain and Elizabeth Allen. My problem is I cannot find a birthdate for John McLain to help me determine the true parents.

John Johnson McLain was born 1-3-1866 in Loring, Wyandotte County, Kansas. He married Betty Jane "Jennie" Wing 10-10-1891. He died 12-18-1943 in Woodward, Woodward County, Oklahoma.

Do you have any info on his parents?
Thank you your help,
Sylvia Hajduk

Thank You!
Hey Jerry,

Thanks for taking the Jividen grave photos. I've only been to the Rock Church Cemetery once and that was at least 20 years ago. The monuments seem to be wearing well. I forgot to request a photo of Thurman Jividen's other son's grave. Maybe you'll pick up that request also. I hope so. These photos are great!

Thanks again,
