Birdtown cemetery
The 1940 directions are: follow Hwy 19 from Bryson city east to Ela, NC. turn left onto #107 go 3 miles to Echota Church at Bird-town, turn left at church go about 1 mile pass 2 houses 100 beyond the 2nd house a path leads to cemetery. Look for large white pine which stands in cemetery.
I know, 1940's directions. Thank you for your time.

Carver cemetery
Greetings, I was looking at WPA records and trying to determine if those memorials were already posted on Find A Grave. I ran across a Birdtown cemetery in which Ida, McKinney and Willie Gipson are buried. The directions also reference Echota church. Is this the same cemetery do you suppose?

Noel Ross
Mac Cemetary
Hi Mike my name is Noel Ross. I have been a member for almost eight years. I have identical interests as you. I was thinking that you may be able to help me with something. I can't find the Mac cemetery and I can't get any info on it except it's approximate location. It is in a difficult location as it is on the North side of the Oconaluftee river. It is a dead zone on my GPS. I have forded the river three times but have had no luck finding the place. If you have any info or pictures I would appreciate anything you could share.
Thank You,

Noel Ross

Woody Cemetery on Forney Creek
Mike,
I want to thank you for the cemeteries you have set up in the backcountry of the Smokies. One of those is the ancestral cemetery of part of my family. I too am(was-too old now) an avid hiker in the Smokies, I'm surprised we never ran into each other. The Woody Cemetery you created on Forney Creek is(was) where my Woody ancestors were buried. Recently someone saw that some burials were made in the Woody Cemetery and thought the one on Forney was it, but you and I know that the last burial there was about 1933, before TVA. I have established the other Woody Cemetery which is over near Bryson City, on Shepherd's Creek and is wherre the burials were actually made and I have photographed all the tombstones there. I wonder if you could edit the description on the cemetery on Forney to indicate that it is in the GSMNP and isolated by Fontana Lake so folks won't be tempted to establish memorials there for people buried in the other Woody Cemetery. Thanks Bill

Just wanted to let you know that I "moved" the two Enloe memorials which you were kind enough to transfer to me. I moved them to the ENLOE Family Cemetery rather than ENTOE Cemetery where you originally had them. It appears that someone else has inadvertently created duplicate memorials for Abraham and Sarah Enloe. I have notified this contributor of the duplication. She probably wasn't aware of your memorials since she would not have known to look for them in the ENTOE cemetery. I just didn't want you to think that I had deleted your memorials.

Kindly remove the 2 gravestone photos (both duplicate photos which were already uploaded by others), and prevent me from adding: a "portrait" of the gent, plus a vintage "drawing" of his childhood "plantation" home.
---
I rarely ask that of anyone. Hope you won't mind ...thanks in advance. If agreed, pls let me know once completed.

Carr Cemetery
Mike,

I was attempting to fill a couple photo requests for Carr Cemetery in Sevier County. Not until I hiked up to Carr Branch Cemetery, did I realize these are 2 different cemeteries. Carr Cemetery on Findagrave.com does not have a map or location. I contacted them, but they had no idea. I also contacted the people who posted a memorial, but have not heard from any of them. Do you know where it might be.?

Green Cemetery
Mike, As I stated in an email to you earlier today, yesterday I hiked Old Settlers Trail. I took the side trail up to Green Cemetery. I took 3 pictures, as there were only 2 readable stones, which were very very new. I was going to put them on findagrave, but did not, because the pictures you have are very different. Your documentation of where the cemetery is located, is where I was. To get to the cemetery, it is about 1/4 mile off Old Settlers trail. The last 100 yards is a steep climb to the hilltop. On Old Settlers Trail, there is a fresh sign on a tree Stating "Green Cemetery" with an arrow. The path to the cemetery is marked with fresh gray markings (simular to what you would see on the Appl Trl). I only saw about a dozen stones, all with no markings, except the two new ones. I do not want to post these unless we are sure they are one in the same Green Cemetery. Would like to email you these before posting. Please email me deancrosby@bellsouth.net so I can send to you.
Thanks, Dean
