St. Josephs
Just to let you know that you have started a St. Joseph's cemetery in Cuming Co outside Bancroft Ne. The cemetery is in Burt Co, and is already correctly listed in Burt Co. Please look at correcting the memorials

Hi Michael,

You're quite welcome. I am not from Nebraska, but I found myself driving from Sioux City to Lincoln yesterday, and I fulfilled a few volunteer requests along the route.

The GPS coordinates of Elizabeth's grave are approximately this:
Latitude: 42.141772
Longitude: -96.495353

To find it without a GPS is rather easy, once you know where to look. In the center of the cemetery is a large statue of a soldier, and this statue is surrounded by a small fence. The Mortensen plot is about 20 paces to the east (to the left as you face the statue.) Elizabeth's grave is low to the ground, but the family surname maker is quite tall and easy to see. I included a photo of that as well.

I re-posted photographs via Memorial # 2
Thanks for the note, Michael. I hope you are doing well.
In response to your note, I found the 2nd memorial for Sylvia Chilton Cook (containing her obituary); so, I posted the pictures of her there, also. Thus, if one of the memorials is a duplicate & is later removed, the wonderful old photographs of Sylvia will survive via one of the two Find A Grave memorials.

I especially enjoy the two "outdoor" pictures of her, working in the flower garden; and, sitting on the grass. The originals are *miniature* photos, so I didn't know how they'd turn out when I scanned them; however, they ended up being my favorite pictures of Sylvia. (Because the pictures were so tiny, I experimented by blocking out the entire background with white paper before scanning the pictures, in an effort to increase the size of the tiny pictures. It worked).

I do not have Goldie's obituary. Have you come across it?

Take care, and thanks for your note.

Ada (Fate) Maynard: Thank-you for the obituary!
It's always good to hear from you, Michael. I hope all is well for you. The obit. for Ada (Fate) Maynard is greatly appreciated. I sincerely thank you for posting it. Would you mind if I add it to my family tree?

A cousin passed a picture of Solomon along to me, which I think might like to have a copy of. Would it be okay to forward the photo to you, via email? If so, which address would be best to send it to?

Peace and blessings,

Searching for Ada's obituary.

Post Script: I've been searching for a copy of the obituary for Ada (Fate) Maynard; however, as yet, I haven't had any luck. If/when I come across it, I'll be sure to pass it along to you. :)

Photos: Chauncey C. Maynard; and, Ada (Fate) Maynard.
Greetings, Michael,

F.Y.I., I recently added two additional photos that I thought you might like to know about. These photos are for Chauncey Claud Maynard and his wife, Ada (Fate) Maynard.

I had sent the previous notes (to both you and the gentleman named Rick) regarding the photos of Chauncey Ellis Crane and his wife, because I thought that you'd both be interested in those old photos. i.e., I, personally, was overjoyed when my husband's cousin recently passed those photos along to me; and, I thought that you might like copies of them, also. Thus, I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures of Chauncey and Sophronia! Your note made my day. Thank-you, Michael).

Thanks, also, for your very kind offer, regarding a scanned copy of the "Fording" story. Yes, I would dearly love to have a copy of the story that published in the Sioux City newspaper, if you could please send it my way. The brief news article that I had found was from an 1877 LeMars newspaper, so I'm very interested to see if there are any additional details in the account published the Sioux City paper.

All for now...

Peace and blessings,

Chauncey Claud Maynard (1871 - 1947) - Find A Grave Memorial # 61387678

Margaret Beach
Michael, I just saw you post re: Margaret's death date. I imagine the cemetery has record of this, as would the court house. Unfortunately, I live half an hour away from Monroe and get there infrequently. I will keep it on my TO DO list and will try to get there (it may be summer before I do though). Good luck, Jenean

FYI: Photographs of Chauncey and Sophronia Crane.
Hello, Michael,

FYI: I've updated the Find-A-Grave Memorial (# 61413399) for Chauncey E. Crane; and, added a photograph of Mr. Crane which was recently shared with me.
Feel free to copy the picture for your files, if you'd like. I've also added a picture of his wife, Sophronia. I also plan to update her Find-A-Grave Memorial when I have more time.

QUESTION: Would you possibly know of anyone who has copy of Chauncey Ellis Crane's obituary, which was written by Oric Whitehead? Or, the "Fording Story" (regarding the tragic Maynard/Crane drownings in the flooding Big Sioux River) which was published area newspapers in 1877? I would love to add these items to the Find-A-Grave page for Chauncey E. Crane.

The snow is melting in Minnesota. Spring is just around the corner. :)

1900: Grove Lake, Pope Co., Minnesota. Maynard & Beach families.
You're very welcome, Michael. I'm very pleased to learn that the "Beach" wedding article was helpful. I will continue to watch for material that may be of interest to you. :)

I have a question, if I may. In my census research, I happened to come across the family of Champ/Champe Wheat Maynard, living NEXT-DOOR to the family of Walter and Nancy Beach. Year: 1900. Location: Grove Lake, Pope Co., Minnesota. Question: Would you possibly know if some of your Beach ancestors were associated with some of our Maynard ancestors, in Minnesota? Let me know what you think...

F.Y.I., I had transcribed a newspaper article last spring, regarding a 1952 "Beach" wedding. I just sent the article to you, via email. Let me know if it does not reach you, and I can re-send.

Maynard / Beach
Thanks for your note via Find-A-Grave. I'm pleased to meet you.
How are you related to the Maynard/Beach family? (I looked for your email after you recently responded to my Find-A-Grave note, but could not find it). I'm easier to connect with by phone rather than email. I can send my # to you privately if you're interested in genealogy info.

I frequently come across brief snippets of genealogy info. in old newspapers, and if you'd like, I can watch for names that connect to your line. Based upon your Find-A-Grave memorials, the following snippet may be of interest to you:

..."Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Maynard and Delbert and Mrs. C.C. Maynard were Sunday visitors in the George Beach home, near Chatsworth." (Publication Date: November 04, 1948).

Thank-you, cousin!
Greetings, Michael,
I want you to know that I greatly appreciate the superb "memorial stone" photographs that you have added to the Find-A-Grave memorials of our Maynard/Crane ancestors. I also want you to know that it's always nice to meet another *cousin.* :)

RE: Bertha Beach

I trid to e-mail you but got some strange auto-reply message back, so I am posting what was in my e-mail here.

Joseph and Mary were my g-g-grandparents on my mother's mother's side.

Bertha Beach and Alfred Hambright (my g-grandparents) were married Nov 11, 1915.
Bertha and Charles Carpenter were married Feb 24, 1921.

Ada Hambright was my grandma.

Which of Joseph and Mary's children "belong to you"?

Do you have any obits for any of the family? The only one I have is Bertha Carpenter.

Have you fund where John Beach is buried? I believe he died in 1918 in Wis, and he was remarried.

Would love to talk some more after I dig through my stuff.
