Asa Brewer - Long Tom Cemetery
Hi Jean, appreciate all you have done to add info to the findagrave website! My sister and I visited Long Tom Cemetery yesterday and Asa Brewers' grave stone was not there. We also couldn't find Lon Brewer. Do you know if there have been stolen grave stones or did you list Asa based on knowledge that he was buried there and not from a gravestone? We are trying to find Asa's second wife's grave - Louisa Smith Brewer and were hoping a trip to Long Tom would solve that mystery. Unfortunately, we didn't have any luck!

RE: Happy Simerly Nichols
Hello, Mrs. Smith

I am far from being an administrator at Find a Grave! Happy Ann Simerly Nichols was my first cousin (3x). Her father, Jeremiah Mauldin "Mauldy" Simerly was the brother of my paternal great-great grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Simerly. I've been working on the Simerly side of my genealogy and am determined to link as many of the family as I can. You're very welcome!

Asa Brewer's Family
Hi, Jean. I'm searching for a Brewer family who was residing in Knox County, Tennessee, around 1810-1820. As you may know, Knox County census records for those years have been lost.

I have a grandfather named William Brewer who was born in Knox County, Tennessee, in that time frame. He gave Knox County as his birthplace on Civil War papers and stated that he was born in Tennessee on every census. However, he was not as certain about his age. Calculated birthdates for him range from 1807 to 1818, based on the age that he stated for himself.

If you have any thoughts on whom his parents might have been, please let me know. My email address is Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to provide, and best wishes.

Hi again!
Well, in almost 30 years of researching my family history, I never ran across any Brickeys or Nichols in my tree. It depends on what other families you are descended from in Sevier or Blount county. On Dad's side there are Trenthams (of course), Myers, Cables, Hatchers, McFalls, Adairs, Ogles etc. On Mom's side there are Roarks, Brackins, Franklins, Kings, Lamberts, Englands etc. If we dug far enough, we would probably find at least one family we had common ancestors in. Haha!

Glad things are going well for you out in California! Hope you haven't had to dodge too many burning forests, subdivisions or earthquakes.

Talk to you later,

I'm glad you didn't find my email as offensive. It's hard to put emotion into an email message and it be taken correctly.
As far as I know, the only way to fix it (fastest) is to do just what you've said, delete and repost. You could send a message to but it may take awhile for them to correct it.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I remember you! Thanks for stopping by my page! I'm usually working at Dollywood and am not online much, but I try to do what I can. How have you been? I'm doing alright.

Tommie Moser Nichols
RE: James Everett
Matilda Waters, mother of Enoch Waters Morrison, is my second grand-aunt. My mother was Sara NUCHOLS Moser of Blount, and I married a NICHOLS whose paternal ancestors are from Blount! A lot of mother's ancestors are in Piney Level and Pleasant Grove. Many of my husband's are buried in Calderwood, Red Top, Happy Valley, and "somewhere in the mountains"! I have found no direct connection to George Nichols and family, although I have them in my data base. I've connected these families before - the Henry family connects the NUCHOLS, NICHOLS, and my father's MOSERS! Southern trees don't fork!

I love to share, and if I can be of any help, please let me know! Welcome to Find A Grave.
