RE: Memorial Transfer Request
I'll be glad to transfer her to you, as for Thomas, I have a cousin Mary Mays I think her granny was a Vaughn, I'll see if she knows anything. He may be buried there also, there are several markers that can't be read.

In case you were wondering, the source on those edits I have put in (mainly plot numbers) -- is the book "Our People And Where They Rest: A Visit to 104 Old Cemeteries in Eastern Oklahoma," James W. Tyner, Maxine Tyner and Alice Tyner Timmons, American Indian Institute, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. 1970-1985, (Library of Congress No. QE99-C5-T97) There wasn't a place for me to put that in the edit form.

Thanks for all your help! Best wishes.

My husband and I took what stones we could find in the cemetery. We may have missed it or there isn't a stone. In the old sections in the back there there are several field stone markers.

RE: Memorial Transfer Requests
Watkins Monuments in Van Buren, AR. They let the Box Cemetery purchase these stones at that cost. Although, when I talked with them this week, I was told granite had gone up in price and the stones may be higher in the future. I don't know if they would let individual's have them at the same price as the cemetery. Thank you for passing the word on. jej

RE: Memorial Transfer Requests
I would be happy to transfer the memorials. I just placed an order for headstones yesterday, April 17th, for Mary G. Bledsoe and William G. Thompson. The Box Cemetery paid $50.00 for each headstone, they are 12x6 gray granite. I will take a picture and post to each of their memorials when they are ready to be picked up and have been placed at the grave site. The cemetery operates by donation for all of our needs, mowing being our largest expense, upkeep of the old school building and utilities. We had a person donate money this past winter to be used for graves without headstones. If you know anyone that would like to donate in honor of the Thompson's, they can make the donation to Box Cemetery at Armstrong Bank, P.O. Box 435, Vian, OK 74962.

Roberta - Hi, got your message asking if I'd transfer Lee Sligar to you and I don't mind at all and will, except I have a small problem.
I've done a search of my records with the name 'Sligar' and nothing comes up. You gave me the memorial #, but I'm still new to all of this and don't know how to look up a certain number and if you even can. If you'll let me know what cemetery they're in, I'll get it transferred...Let me know.

RE: Barrett memorial
You're welcome! Thanks so much for updating his memorial. I noticed that you had on his memorial that you are no longer on ancestry.com where you stored your records. I am pretty sure that your family tree that you added is still free but you wouldn't not be able to access any of their records unless you were a member. You may want to check it out.

RE: Melvina Roberts
The only reason I have doubts that she is there is because OK has no death certificate for her in Adair County. Being she was alive in 1930 they should have a death certificate for her if she was there. She may be buried where her husband is and I have no clue where her husband is buried either I assume in AR. Melvina is my husband's great grandmother.

Melvina "Viney" Walker Roberts how do you know she died in 1935 and is buried in Adair County, OK? Is there a marker?

I have been looking for her for 40 years and have found no trace of her.
