RE: Susan Davis Day
Nope. Her middle name was Davis. She was 15 when she married James Wiley Day. It is likely that Susan and James were cousins but I haven't been able to make the connection yet. The marriage records lists S. D. Day married J. W. Day. Davis is likely a family name I just haven't connected to yet. As posted on her memorial, Susan was the daughter of William H. Day and Temperance Jeanette "Nettie" Hardy Day, making Day her maiden name. Hope this helps.

Trf to you. He is my 3rd cousin 5x removed - through Summers.

There is no facility to link children from the parents' memorials.

I have no children currently in my database for Giles & Axeath and welcome any info you'd care to add.

RE: Elijah Chapman
As I understand it my Chapman line goes from Giles Sr - Rev Giles - Elijah - Joshua - Rachel Elizabeth who married Daniel Adams. Thanks for the correction.

I guess so - what did the family do back then?

Pretty impressive, and they must have had a sense of humour with the big ball, too!!

RE: Elijah Chapman
Dear Lorainne,

You are very welcome! I live in Austin, TX, but I have had the fortune of visiting the Pugh Cemetery 3 times. The first time I visited, I was able to copy pages from Minnie Mae Pugh's book at the Grove Hill Library, which confirmed information I located on census records and much more.

Elijah Chapman's side of the headstone is much easier to read than Elizabeth's, but if you click on the photos it makes them bigger where you can decipher most of my transcription. The rings that have developed on the stones over time are beautiful, but certaily make it more difficult to read the inscriptions!

Thank you for the title of your father's book. I'm sorry to learn he is in poor health. you and your family will be in my prayers.

Best wishes,
Mark

Dear L. Chapman,

Yes there are headstones for both Elijah Chapman & his wife Elizabeth Martin-Chapman at the Pugh Cemetery. I added Memorials for both, and transferred the Management to you. I hope this will be helpful for you. I also sent a message to Del Groves requesting that he link Giles Chapman, their son, to the memorials.

Best wishes,
Mark Morrow

RE: Frances Chapman
Yes, I am sure we will be. I was there yesterday but it was rain with a tad of snow mixed in so I couldn't help. I know I should be there in the next 2 weeks at some point because my hubby has to go to the doctor. Do you want me to go ahead with the names you gave me or something else? Just let me know. Have a Blessed Day, Caroll
