|Jeri (Ingram) Bishop||RE: Asberry T. Chumley (Chumbley)|
I have also noted in the bio that it has been proven by DNA testing that he is actually the son of Mason and Martha Chumley (Chumbley). And I added Mason's memorial # as his father. Great job on finding this. I can remember my grandfather, Harley Chumley telling us the story about how Asberry was found out in a field one day, by Mason and they took him in and adopted him. There is no telling when this rumor got started.

|Leigh Compton Smith||re Paschal O'shields|
I've done a good bit of research on the Heaton family and Woodward and ties to O'shields.seems like the more I learn the less I know. Looks like Paschal was in Pickens Co with wife Caroline aroudnthe same time he supposedly hooked up with Elizabeth Heaton and had 2 kids. Or maybe it was another William O'Shields. and it appears that the O'Shields family is divided on this as well. All I do know is that Frances Heaton/Wooward and her sibings were taken in by different families growing up and had some ties to the O'shields. Frances Heaton's sister was my step great grandmother and I had heard the story growing up. Isaac O'Shields s/o William (Paschal?) and Elizabeth Heaton is living with Joseph Heaton in the 1880 census in Pickens Co. I have only found one Paschal O'Shields in the Spartanburg area at the time.

I got my information from the stones which were lying about. The church personnel I spoke with confirned there were no available records, but several stones lay in the yard. Now stones as old as these can be quite eroded, so I made have made some small character errors, but this is what the stones themselves said. I know nothing beyond what the stones I saw said.
