You are very welcome!! I also found their 2 sons, Gerald and Richard. I made a page for Richard, but Gerald is either still alive or buried elsewhere.

RE: Lieber/Lieben
The cemetery records list that person as Lieber but as you can see from the stone that it is Lieben. I have confirmed that this is the correct plot.

Mary Couch
I went to the Colonial Cemetery yesterday and did not find a headstone for Mary Couch. There were 2 other Couch headstones but none for her. There were MANY unreadable headstones in the area, but I was unable to find hers.
So sorry.

RE: Oliver Day
You're very welcome, I will continue to search through papers as well as search cemetery records for Linn & Jones county. I went to the library here the other day and they have all the jones county cemetery records right there in the library. Maybe next week I can go down and spend a day just looking through them.

RE: Oliver Day
I contacted Mt Vernon Historic Preservation Commission and ask if they had any knowledge of the whereabouts of Oliver's Burial.....

Got some news from the Mt Vernon Historic Preservation Commission just now. Here is a copy of what he wrote me.

Oliver Day --- what a great name in Mt Vernon history!! You all come from good stock. The Historic Preservation Commission has a copy of the Mt Vernon cemetery records. I checked Oliver and he is not listed – hard to believe! He must have left town to die – settlers moved west – even Abby moved on despite being one of the first settlers and making good money in Mt Vernon and Marion.

WE are making a visual walking search of the cemetery and if Oliver appears we will let you know. Sorry! It would be good for us to know what you find. Good luck --

Dr. Richard H. Thomas, Ph.d.

For the Mt Vernon Historic Preservation Commission

Oliver Day
In 1851 Two acres of land east of town (Lisbon) were donated by Oliver Day & Asher Edgerton for a cemetery.

I would think that if he was still in the Mt. Vernon/Lisbon area that he would have been buried on the land he donated for the cemetery, but I'm still looking.

RE: Oliver Day
No I didn't know that. I will try and see what else I can dig up. Can you tell me again the exact birth and date of death for Oliver. I might get better search results with actual days. Thanks

Also I just found a new site, you might know about it already, but it couldn't hurt.

You might also want to look through some of jones county, I believe he lived with one of his sons for a period of time, I just can't remember which son. I know I found him living with one of them in the census in Anamosa, Jones County. I'll have to go back and do another search.

Here is a link to search Jones County Newspapers if you like:

i'm going through the Historical Society's Biography's and obituaries today. We just got a bunch more snow or else I would be back at the cemeteries searching.

On another note, do you by chance have an

RE: Stroop Family
I enjoy walking thru graveyards also. It was my pleasure to find your family. Sorry about Elizabeth Stroop's tombstone being face down. I knew it was too heavy for me to lift up and I didn't want to damage it any more. It was odd with Charles, John, Elizabeth & Mary Ann tombstones facing one way and Charles, Henry, and Rachel facing the opposite direction but all in the same row.

You're welcome,
Deb aka The Bull

I did not take any more photos while I was there.
When I have a chance, I will drive back up to Paulsboro. BTW it's Mrs. Bull. Don't worry about it happens all the time.

Ithmar Morton
He is still listed on the cemetery web page for the National Cemetery in Fredericksburg, VA. As I indicated in my search there is not a marker for him. That is not to say he's not buried there. 80% are unknown only identified by a number.
