RE: Elijah John Veale
Yes we are looking at Elijah John Veale Sr b 1818! Crazy how they just kept repeating names through the generations as this Elijah ALSO had a sister Elizabeth VEALE b. 1815 (I think). I suspect that we are correct that Elijah Sr. was born in England and the handwritten note I have on the back of his photo just assumed that he was born in Rawdon Quebec where he grew up. Thanks for your help with all this! One last question - do you have the details on exactly where in the Cataraqui Cemetery his headstone is located? I am going to be there this fall and would love to see it myself!

RE: Elijah John Veale
Thanks for your clues as to Elijah's history!
Can you share how you got a name for his mother? The christening record I am seeing for him has his mother as Elizabeth but I don't have the actual record. Will have to do a bit more digging on this as the old family research I have (VEALE and McNAMEE Lineage, 1968) also indicated that his OLDER sister may have been born in Quebec which would make it pretty remote that he was born in England wouldn't you agree? I can see that I will have to spend a bit more time searching this!

Not sure how much interest you have in this line but I have Rachel VEALE's old photos that include lots of Veales if you are interested. I have posted a few to the Find a Grave Memorials where applicable.
If this is a line you are interested in, would love to share more with you!

You can email me directly if you would like.

RE: Mary Maynes
Thanks for getting back so quickly!I will post the obit to her memorial so you can see it. I have seen the marriage document from Rawdon Quebec which matches up with the year of her marriage from the obit but not the location so I am not sure which would be correct. The other piece of conflicting info is that on the back of the picture I have of Elijah was written that he was born at Rawden Quebec so there must have been some connection to that town... Do you have any other information on them?

RE: Memorial # 93724612

Sorr I could not find his memorial. I wouldn't delete can just move him to burial unknown. I live in Peterborough and I can just do more research and see if he is buried elsewhere...or if you wish you could just transfer him to me. If I ever find a grave location I can let you know. What do you think?

Ephraim PERCY
Hello and thank you for maintaining these records. I am hoping you can correct the information for this gravestone. The notes refer to Ephraim PERCY Sr., who was born c. 1741 in or near Troy, New York; he died in December 1821 in Chateaugay, Franklin County, New York. You have mixed information here, and the date of death you give is for his son Ephraim Jr. These dates are often confused, but they are certainly well-established and distinct. I've been researching this line for over twenty years. Thanks so much!

Glad to help another cousin on here. Manitoba birth records show his birth as 16 October not the second as well. I've submitted parents for Margaret Sinclair which should link her all the way back to 1730 of the McKerlie line.

Ephraim Percy Gravestone
Hello. The information given is not correct and has been repeated on many genealogical Internet sites. This is the gravestone of Ephraim Percy, Jr. who died in Dec. 1834. His age is not transcribed correctly. He was born about 1780. His father was Ephraim Percy, Sr., born about 1741; died Dec 1821, age about 80 years (will dated 8 Dec 1821). His son Ephraim, Jr. is mentioned in the will. Ephraim, Jr. was son of Ephraim, Sr. and Elizabeth Unknown. Ephraim, Jr. married Elizabeth V. McDonald. Could you please correct the information or tell me how I can get it corrected? Is it possible to get a photograph of the gravestone to see what his age was? Thank you very much for your help.

RE: Memorial #74017286
Something got messed up somewhere. As I remember, I was able to select a county and town.
If you choose Canada from the long list of countries and not the Canada from the top three choices, then Ontario as the province, the next field it will bring up is the list of counties. Then you can choose the township, town, or city.

Is there any chance that you may have a contact in the family who possibly knows something about Joseph? If so, you can send me an email at cmahh[at] As I said, I am interested in finding Joseph (Grindy)'s death info. Anything you could do to help would be great.

Added by NTT on Jul 29, 2014 7:18 PM

Additionally, both Forrester brothers were active in sports, James in lacrosse, and Joseph as a professional hockey player (played in Winnipeg and Portage Lakes). The last I have of Joseph is him living in Saskatchewan in 1916. He married a woman named Mabel Aitchison in Los Angeles, California in 1914.

Added by NTT on Jul 29, 2014 5:45 PM

I actually have information that Andrew and Jean had another son, Joseph. He was James' brother. James was known as "Grassy" Forrester, and Joseph as "Grindy" Forrester (Grindy Forrester also has a Wiki page). I am interested in finding out when Joseph died.
