I am pretty sure this is all right. I just looked on ancestry...
William Jacob has a birth record that shows William Alston and Mattie Fink Ivester has his parents. has the other information, and of course, Jerald's obit is also helpful as it lists other children of William and Ruths.
William Alston also had a brother named Reece. He lived with William, Mattie and baby Billy on the 1930 census.

I hope this is helpful. I am sorry there is no marker. It is always very dissappointing to me, and very sad.

Photo request at Oaklawn
Hi Joy,
I have been looking into your photo request for Luester at Oaklawn but so far have had no luck finding them, or even the name Luester on ancestry or Find A Grave. I found no one with that name on either website nor on genealogybank. I did find the death certificate for Mattie Lee Fink with the last name as Wester on Ancestry, with the same parents and dates as what you have on your memorial. However, I think it actaully says Ivester. Ivester is a much more common name. I am waiting to hear back from the cemetery office about both names, so hopefully I can find where they are and get the photo. I just wanted to let you know that I was working on it.

Sarah Kirk

I fulfilled your photo request for Sarah Kirk, but you'll have to dig to find it under all of the other photos the memorial creator uploaded.

Also, they took up so many photo slots that I couldn't upload the close up of the name and dates, since there was only room for one more photo without paying $5 to sponsor the memorial. Sorry!

RE: Greenlawn & West Lawn
AHA! Mystery solved. I have been wondering if you and Linda are the same person because you both ask for the same family names. I have your mom's requests too. I'll go into the West Lawn office and face the manager again to see if she'll give me the location for at least Ginger Shuffler. I have so many outstanding requests for Rowan Memorial too, so that's on my list after China Grove.

If you ever get back over here, Joy and I would love to meet you, maybe meet y'all for lunch somewhere. I don't think either one of us has anyone that places as many requests as you guys do. Joy is convinced that sooner or later you're going to ask for a member of her family.

Greenlawn & West Lawn
I wanted to mention the requests you have for these cemeteries.

Both of these cemeteries are huge; Greenlawn consists of cemeteries for 3 churches plus a private area and West Lawn is totally private. Sometimes I can find grave locations for Greenlawn at the library. I think I know where the Butner graves are, but I'm having difficulty finding James Safrit. I'm going to try to get down there next week sometime.

West Lawn is a problem. The people in the office are hostile and refuse to give me grave locations--I don't encounter this in any other cemetery. The two cemeteries are right across the street from one another, so whenever I'm at Greenlawn, I try to stop at West Lawn and take pictures of at least one section in an attempt to map the cemetery myself. Eventually I hope to find all the graves for you. Sorry it's taking so long.

RE: Versie Wagoner
Going to the Turner cemetery (and meeting Mr. Swicegood) was really a treat. Joy and I both agree with you that the stones are all in excellent condition. Even the one that has fallen down is like new as far as the engraving goes.

Regarding Memorial Park, I think I'm the only volunteer taking photos there. It is a big cemetery, but it's one of seven cemeteries maintained by the city of Salisbury. The manager of the cemetery division is very willing to send me grave locations when I email her list of names. So I have to do only a small amount of hunting.

She may be there and have no marker. I tied church but no one is there right now will check and see. Normally church records are very incomplete around here.

RE: Turners
We were so excited when you found your contact person. He was most gracious and anxious to help, even giving us history of each person. Add one more memorial for an infant (there are three with just "infant" on the stone and no name or date)and I'll put the picture of the three infant stones on the new memorial for you.

Bettie's children
Joy, I just thought of something. Maybe those kids ended up there as a calculated relationship. And apparently they don't removed just because you removed the spouse. Is that possible?

RE: Bettie Elizabeth Fink
Joy, I don't see any children on Bettie Elizabeth Fink's memorial page. I don't know why you are seeing them and I'm not, but that's obviously the case.

If you added them, I think you need to take them off. If there's no Edit link next to the children's names, I think you'll have to click the Edit tab at the top right. Then you send an email to a Find A Grave administrator, asking then to do what you want.

Let me know if I'm not seeing something that's right in front of my face.
