Charles Moorman
Hi! I was wondering if you would be willing to transfer the above named, Find A Grave Memorial# 103899244, to me. There is no "direct" connection with Charles, other than the fact that his sister married my uncle.

My number is: 48401851

Thank you so much - and if you choose not to transfer it,I understand your position.

Thank you very much.

RE: Mr. Newton's DOD
Hey there! I'm sorry. I don't have any info for Mr. Hayes. A few of us members have gotten together and have run listings of the Find A Grave database and are just trying to clear up dates that are obviously wonky. Most likely due to spreadsheet upload craziness or fumble fingers (which I've done on more than one occasion...lol)

You could put a note in the bio or note field that the DOD may be the burial date - I've seen other members do that.

Or, you could ask in the Discussion Forums - there's a Genealogy thread that I've posted in myself looking for help locating info on relatives. There are people who visit there that have subscriptions to everything and just LOVE to ferret out info. It's like playing detective...lol

Let me know if you need any help on how to get there or what to post or if I can be of help in any other way.

Many thanks for answering so soon. :)

Emily

Memorial# 105518516 James M Matthews
I left Flowers and a photo there thinking that was my Uncle Jim Matthews. I had the wrong grave site I was able to remove the picture but not the flowers and note. Is there a way I can do that or can you do for me? My Uncle is buried at Oaklawn Memorial Park Chatsworth Los Angeles County California, USA. I couldn't find a site for him. I have a cousin in L.A. that is going to take some pictures and send to me.
Thanks,
Wes (#48122406)

I have attached the parents that you suggested but that makes the mother very young (age 16). If you find that she belongs in another family, just let me know and we'll get it switched. Do you want a transfer on this one? JLF

see

could you also add under bio the following transcrition:

Noreen Sekyer

Mrs. Noreen Sekyer passed away, at the Dawson creek and District Hospital, on Friday, December 10, 1993 at the age of 80 years and four months.
Funeral services were held from South Peace United Church in Dawson Creek on Tuesday December 14, 1993. Reverend Eric Read officiated and interment followed in the Dawson Creek City Cemetery.
Annie Noreen (Lloyd) Sekyer was born in Langdon, Alberta on July 13, 1913 [to Lewis Elliott Lloyd, Sr. (1882 1960) and his wife Mary Jackson (1877 1960)]. Two sisters [Laura Marguarite (1905 1913) and Alma Elizabeth (1910-1926)] and one brother [Lewis Elliott Lloyd, Jr. (1919 1956)] were also born into the family.
The Lloyd family moved to the Peace River Country in 1918 where they homesteaded in the Suset Prairie District, west of Dawson Creek. They later moved to Pouce Coupe, where her mother and father owned and operated the Lloyd's Hotel.
In 1930 Noreen met Bob Sekyer and they were later married at Beaverlodge, Alberta, and lived in the Peace River Country all of their lived.
During their marriage, Bob and Noreen raised 10 children, four boys and six girls. Bob joined the Canadian Army in 1941 and was sent overseas for two years. During that time Noreen looked after five small children, on her own, and somehow managed to save enough to buy a small house on 17th Street. After several additions to the house, as the family grew, it became the "homeplace."
Although times were tough, Noreen always managed to have enough to eat, for her family and for anyone else who happened to drop in.
Bob and Noreen owned and operated the West End Grocery for 13 years, from 1943 to 1956. During the years in the store, Noreen and Bob made numerous friends.
Noreen's door was always open to family and friends alike. Her family was her pride and joy, and her favorite times were spent with them. She was always ready to go when someone called, and especially loved to go camping, until after her 80th birthday.
She also enoyed her card games and the nights out to play bingo.
She considered herself very fortunate to be surrounded by such a large family and always supplied them with her famous homemade bread. It was a Thursday tradition for the family to meet at her house for fresh bread and cinnamon buns.
Noreen lived a relatively healthy life, until September of this [1993] year, but even in her ill health, her main concern was her family and being together with them.
Noreen was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and one brother, son Bobby [Robert Lewis Sekyer (1941 1966)], husband Bob (1981) [Robert Hanson Sekyer 1901 1982], daughter Donna (1986) [Donna Louise Sekyer (1935 1986) m. Robert Price], great grandson Cody and sons-in-law, Doug Halverson [Douglas Ralph Halverson (1929 1987) m. Vivian] and Bob Price.
She is mourned and sadly missed by: her sons - George (Elsa), Sid (Alice) and Gary (Irene); daughters - Bernice (Bob) Shearer [Bernice Lenore Sekyer (1930 1994) m. Bob Shearer], Vivian Halverson [Vivian Sekyer (1932 2011) m. Douglas Ralph Halverson (1929 1987)], Marion (Claire) Neste, Audrey (Doug) Cowger and Loretta (Leonard) Heinkle; along with 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and many friends.
Expressions of sympathy may be made by way of donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Cobbs
Carlton Cobbs was Anna Mae Johnson Cobbs' first son, not her husband. He was killed in an auto accident on his was home from boot camp. This is from memory. One of his brothers, Jack Cobbs died this week. Jack was my age. Carlton was seventeen when he died and had no children. I am remembering this from when I was seven years old so I may not be perfectly accurate. His father went by the name of Pete Cobbs and worked at the Shell or Union plant that was on the way into Exeter.
