I am certainly not upset. I did make a note in the bio section if that helps any. I too appreciate all that you do! If you want to reword it let me know. Thanks

August Weber
Hi Shirley,

It took me a while, but I think I finally have August Weber's bio finished. I sent some info and links for some of his immediate family to the contributors who own them, so hope that stuff gets added soon.

The sibs in his father's obit didn't exactly match the census records. I think the obit is right because one of August's sisters listed in it (but not on census records) was also the informant on Nicholaus' death certificate. Still can't quite figure out the reason for the discrepancy.

Thanks for your help!

Shirley,

Always good to hear from you! Thank you for the information.

I found his son's memorial and requested that links be added to the parents. His daughter does not appear to be on Find A Grave yet.

Thanks again for your help.

Stemme
Shirley, I thank you for your input.

Augusta is a name that repeats in my Stemme family.

When I added gets confusing, as to this day people put the name Augusta Stemme incorrectly.

I care for my mother, since the death of my dad last year.

I can not go into full details on this at current time.

I hope you understand my position.

Ferdinand Andreas Stemme
Carolyn:
I just looked the census and immigration records for Ferdinand Andreas Stemme and his family. It looks as though Ferdinand traveled with his oldest son Ferdinand Jr. first to America. *^*
Note- Yes, Oldest son full name Ludwig Christoph Ferdinand Stemme. Married 2x. Died in Chicago Ill interred by daughter, Augusta. It is on my Memorial links. This daughter Augusta that is named after Ludwig mother, is enumated with his father, Ferdinand Andreas Stemme and 2nd wife America Copeland. Per family bible, America had one daughter, my great grandmother, Lillian Anne Stemme Price.

Then his 1st wife Augusta age 35 traveled later with their next 3 children Lina/Lena 9, Marie 5, and Alwin 4. ^** Note:
Correct. Ironically, I do not locate Augusta returning nor in St Louis MO on a census as to remarry. Alwin Hermann Stemme married Eloise Packer, they leave MO to CT, NY, NJ.
Lena/ Lina, Marie like their mother goes missing on census records. Complexing.

On the 1880 Census Ferdinand has a daughter Augusta listed as age 8 b.1872 MO. She must be named after her mother. And, her mother must have died before the 1880 census. ^*
Note: This is confusing. Augusta is highly used in the Stemme family. IF I were the second wife, would America name a daughter after, Ferdinand first wife? Again, per family bible states America had one daughter. Son's., Willie died as infant., William Max Stemme died in Nashville per his TN death record from TB., but buried in St Louis MO. Burial place unknown. Richard Otto Stemme burial unknown. George Oscar Stemme married Lillian Etiol Basham., one son., George Oscar Ferdinand Stemme died while Uncle Richard Otto., holding the baby going down basement steps, a box was on the steps, Tripped both went falling to concrete. Baby didd skull fracture. This was a family horror, creating more sad events.

Ferdinand is listed as married on the 1880 Census to 2nd wife America Copeland. They married on Nov 4, 1879 in Iron Co MO which the census shows that location. Ferdinand dies 1903, so he is not on the 1910 or 1920 census, but America is shown as a widow living with her children. Is this correct information? ^*. Yes, he married America Copeland, in Iron County MO. Yes, F died 1903. America interred Vallhalla unmarked grave

I need help in German, if you come across someone in MO Library understands, maybe I can learn more on first wife., plus Ferdinand parents'. I am stuck.

Thanks, Carolyn

There are many graves that are unmarked. Especially the real old ones that are near the road.

If anyone would like a picture I can see if I can find the grave and take one. I did find John Jones the other day and added a picture of his stone to his site. It still shows up as being requested and I don't know how to fix that!

RE: Armina Lodge Cemetery - St. Louis MO
Hi Shirley.,

Thank You for your dedication to resolving the question about
RE: Armina Lodge Cemetery - St. Louis MO. I pray my Ancestor, Ferdinand Andreas Stemme resting place was not disturbed. I posted the bill of sale showing his plot number. You may use the copy and the comment where Jerry Price, my Cousin, seen stacked upright headstones pulled up. He asked a man there, only reply was No One Wants to claim who could potentially care for the old cemetery. He did only reply Maybe Those Headstones are in the way to mow the grass. The real reason highly possible that the HWY came through where those interred, and they were reinterred, taking their headstone with them.

Thank You. Carolyn

Hi Shirley., Thank you for the Armina Lodge Cemetery listings, and all the work you kindly but sincerely for sake of history perservance.
Yes, I, too noted the Duplicate memorial for Lena Stemme. Since I have her on my Ancestry Tree, I attempted to have the two merged. Thank you.

Whoa, the Krause murders made me chilled, honestly. Sad sad story 💔

You did a Excellent Doumentation, with pictures. We need more people like you!!

Like you, I pray those interred at Armina were not bulldozed over to be forgotten.

Arland Stemme is now in her upper 80's, may not be as active in the Historical section but I will reach out to her, and ask for direction to address this. Is it okay to share your 13 page reporting?

Thank You.

Carolyn

Shirley glad there was a stone I guess I didn't take any in that area in the past.
Ok you say I ahd a photo request and she couldn't mark it as fullfilled I don't remember having one I see yours is still listed I wonder if she claimed it or just added it maybe she wasnn't logged in when she added the photo. She should go back and claim it and add the same photo then she can delete one of them that way it will get rid of the request since there is a photo for him.

Armina Lodge Cemetery - St. Louis MO
Re: Armina Lodge Cemetery - St. Louis MO

Hi., Wow, Interstate took the cemetery. I pray those interred there were relocated, one can only hope they did the right thing. Thank You for telling me that you visited this cemetery and what you discovered.

Maybe they pulled up each upright headstone as they relocated those mainly German born interred there. Hmm, now scratch my head about my ancestor, Ferdinand Andreas Stemme, if they moved him.

I greatly appreciate you sharing this with me. Thank You.

Thanks for the info about Maggie. I have added it below the obit on the memorial page of her father, John Mills Wasson. I managed to track down 2 more of her siblings and hopefully the links will be accepted so that 11 of the 12 children will be linked to their parents!

Nancy Vernon
Certainly lore was that Nancy murdered her 2nd husband (which makes you wonder about the first), maybe for the inheritance which was very generous for Drury's new wife. However, I have not found an account of that, or if there was a trial, charges, or just suspicion by his children. Leaving all the grown children only $5 seems odd -- you wonder what the rest of the story was, and what part Nancy might have played.
Have you found burial locations for Drury, Elijah, Nancy or her 3rd husband? Or for either of Elisha's wives? Big brick wall.

RE: Memorial 74450128 Elisha Vernon
I am sure Elijah was Nancy's son and I believe another son was Elisha. I have not found information re her 1st husband (Mr. Vernon) other than he was from N.C., and or if she had more than the presumed two sons. I haven't seen the Will of her 2nd husband, Drury Gooch, who had at least 9 children with 1st wife Rebecca Patsy Whitehead. Did he include anyone other than the surviving 9 children plus 2nd wife Nancy and her son Elijah Vernon? He may have included only Elijah Vernon from Nancy's children because Elijah lived with them, and apparently was mentally challenged so probably Nancy's dependent for his or her lifetime. Drury and Nancy Vernon married 1836, Nancy's presumed son Elisha married 1832, so he would never have been in Drury's household so it is reasonable he would not be included in Drury's Will.
Of course I am using logic and assumptions here, without proof that Elisha is Nancy's son.

RE: Memorial 74450128 Elisha Vernon
Elisha and Elijah may be brothers, not the same person. They are both in the 1850 census a few houses from each other. Elisha Vernon, age 36, is with first wife, Sarah and several children. Elijah Vernon/40/TN appears to be single and is in home of BRAZCALL/BRAZCELL Henry/51 and Nancy/62. Notation that Elijah Vernon is "idiot".

In 1880 Elisha indicated his father was from N.C. and his mother from TN, as he was.

He was listed in the cemetery records, all the known information from the records is posted to memorial. We did not find a marker for him, but that cemetery has dozens of unmarked and illegible stones. I'll see if I can find anything else about him.

Shirley,

I had been unable to find the name of George Knoche's first wife, since she died right before the 1900 census was taken.

Thank you very much for taking the time to let me know her identity! George's bio has now been up-dated.
