I found a John( 1805-1853 and Elizabeth Bruce(1808-1873). Probably some kin to the other ones.

I noticed your shortened name on our uncle's memorial and am now looking for info on the disposition of his remains. Is it already available?

I added his mother Gertrude's memorial to the database and linked it to his father.

I am very foggy on the family's loss since I was probably only 6 when I visited Texarkana for the only time. A very warm and inviting home and family. Maybe also sad, looking back, a very quiet home indeed.

Your probable cousin,

Jim Shropshire

RE: Benham, Henry Hill
I sent the infprmation to whoever has the memorial. I thought I saw same name on 23rd US Infantry list but with an Illinois burial.
I'm working up information on the 20th thru 45th US Infantry (1866-1900 era). Maybe it was some one else with an interest in 23rd US Infantry.
Its not hard for me lose track of who is interested in what.

Didn't find the info. Have misplaced my Cemetery Book. May have confused info with sheriff who was listed before him and was shot and killed and the sheriff listed after him who was also Tax Collector. Have corrected memorial until such time as I stumble upon verifying info.

Sorry. I found it right after I asked you. I think I got that out of the Trinity County Beginnings book. I managed to find him online listed as a sheriff with those dates. I'll have to do a little more looking to find where I found the info that he was shot and killed. I'll let you know when I do. That will give me something to do tomorrow.

Can you please tell me what cemetery? I couldn't find the memorial you had a question about.
