Find A Grave Memorial# 69827247

FYI:

In this record there is a short obit, but with an unknown edition of the Western NY paper from which it came. I believe this to be from here:

Aileen Ryan Crichton
Hi Mary,
Mickey, put the headstone picture for Aileen.
When I look at the headstone,Aileens maiden name is Ryan, she married,John Taggart Crichton. Both of their names, plus George Sr and Maryann are on it. John Taggart Crichton is not mentioned,on findagrave. Frances Jones,is one of the daughters,of George and Maryann. John and Aileen, lived in Sandy Creek,NY. She died in Lacona. Found her obit,on Fultonhistory.com/postcards.

Please verify, and fix if is correct.

Portageville Cemetery
Thank you so much for the work you did with the Cornwell plot in Portageville. My grandfather, as well as my great, and great-great grandfather are buried there. This has really sparked a revival of my interest in genealogy.

You have him as married to Mary M Elderkin. According to the Wisconsin Deaths and Burials, Mary M. Elderkin's parents are Bennet and Susan Beardsley. Mary's husband is Edward Elderkin.

I wish to help, not to point fingers. Thank you.

RE: fulton & Richmire
Thank you for the site info & all the help with the Richmires. I think I can now lay Mercy/Mercie to rest.
I started searching & looking & lost track of time.
I also sent an e-mail to a volunteer in Tuscola Co., MI to see if she might be able to find an obit in a local paper there that isn't online.
The obit you sent me sure had a lot of misspelling in it and had her father's first name wrong! But it has helped me with my researcch for Mercy (Coons) Richmire.
I did not know about the site and it started me looking for other New York sites that might help me for other surnames.

RE: Richmire
Thank yu!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll see if I can get a friend to help me that has ancestry.
I really appreciate all you have done for me.
The obit seems to fit a MI marriage record that I thought was for 'Mercy' (Coons) Richmire even thou the first name used was not Mercy nor any other of the names she seemed to use! She changed names more then any other person I've researched.
I hope I haven't made a lot of spelling/typing errors in this message! Just returned from an eye exam & eyes aren't back to normal yet.

RE: Richmire
I only receoved a message frpm Find A Grave that the memorial had been transferred to me.
Where & when did you send a message that was about an obit for Mabel's mother, Mercy (Coons) Richmire?
If the obit is for Mercy (Coons) Richmire, daughter of John & Rhoda (Cross) Coons who was Divorced from Rev. Geo. W. Richmire I would most surely like to have it.

Richmire, Mabel May
Thank you for the transfer of Mabel's memorial.
I have linked her to her father.
The obituary I have is a little different but not enough so I haven't added it.
Hopefully one day the mystery of her mother will be solved & I can link Mabel to her also.

Abagail Lamb
Thank you for the information that you sent regarding Abagail, wife of Asa. The Abagail Lamb who seek, I believe, was unmarried. So these appear to be different individuals.

1) corrected spelling errors for "Methodist" and " Pocahontus."

2) added middle and maiden names, birth/death dates/locations

3) transcription (so that Google will pick it up!!)

Arthur Metcalf #6479268

Julia Metcalf #6479261
Samuel Metcalf #6479259
You can send me the info on them individually by using the "edit function".

RE: John Eddy (Fancher?) Jr.
I too looked at the soldiers and sailors system and saw no Fancher listed but they did list John Eddy in Co.G 100th NY. It now looks like he might have been related to or a family friend of the Fancher family and buried in their lot sparing the cost of the cemetery plot to the Eddy family. I will delete the Fancher memorial and add the photo to the proper memorial, if you find out differently let me know and I'll relist him.
