Waddell/Shipley Photo request
I was able to go out this morning in the cool weather and take the photos and full your photo request. William Waddell and Mattie Shipley are buried next to each other in section 20 of this cemetery. Have posted an extra picture of their plot.

I have deleted their memorials I made and accepted your photo requests. Will go out and get photos of their headstones when I can get out there (cooler weather permitting).

RE: George T. Lay, Georganna,
If I remember right, Georgia is next to Georganna and George. The stone says Georgia died at just over 3 weeks old, so I'm just guessing it's their child? I'll get the pictures up when I have some free time.

RE: Mildred N. Losey
The Mildred Losey I added to findagrave was from a typed listing. Maybe you could call the City of Kirwin office and ask them what the original handwritten records say. There is no marker. I looked for somebody else about this same lady a few weeks ago.

Perry & Elizabeth Losey
Sorry I didn't know. Nice to meet a distant cousin. I descend from Elizabeth's brother Robert George Campbell. Have you had any luck with the ancestry of their parents, Robert & Nancy George Campbell? Contact me via my email listed on my Find-a-Grave home page. I would love to compare information!

RE: Perry David and Mary Losey
good morning, L
I am so excited that you have located my great grandparents in the welch cemetery..How did you
see the tombstone???

I would love to be able to visualize the image
so I can look for other relatives in other cemeteries...

the strange thing about locating the tombstone is that several of my LIVING relatives have taken pics of the tombstone, but forgot which cemetery..how strange is that??? so I just tried to place them in the general vicinty of where I thought they were located.

also I have wanted to make a trip to oklahoma and just look, but you have given me such a great gift to know for sure where they are buried.

I will take them out of the cemetery I had them on Find A Grave and locate them in Welch...thanks you so much..you have really made my day.

but please let me know how I can see them also.

thanks again

RE: Ann Russel
Thanks. I just e-mailed findagrave about this duplication of the Lima Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Usually they will take care of it so there is only one cemetery and no duplications.

Ken Snyder
John Shivley at Prairie Union Cemetery
You asked if the middle initial might be L instead of S. All I have to go by is the record book at the cemetery, It is clearly John S Shivley, and he is buried in the same plot as Nettie Shivley, if that information helps. Perhaps you should put in a photo request and see if there is any additional information on the marker itself. I don't know if we will get back down that way before spring. It's pretty cold here. Wish I could help more. Ken

RE: Sophia Hunsley
FindAGrave policy is that the newer memorial is merged into the older memorial.

So, if there is a duplicate and yours is older just ask edit at findagrave dot com to merge the two memorials. Just make certain both are in the correct cemetery.

RE: Martin Cemetery, Sangamon,IL
Most stones cannot be found. The cemetery is very overgrown. I was particularly interested in Martin and Lewis stones, many of which I found. Because many of the existing stones are loose I could pick them up and rotate them so the sun cast a sharp shadow across the lettering. I will no doubt return in the future to try to find more stones, but many or maybe most are lost to undergrowth and overlaying dirt. A very serious restoration effort would be required to get things better there.

RE: Minnie Crites children
I believe the family lived closer to Kirwin, and there may be more information in the Kirwin Chief (not digitized yet). I may be able to Interlibrary Loan the microfilm. I'll see what I can do.

Lou Minnie Crites Losey Smith Nelson
I am researching the Adam and Charity Crites family.
I was excited to see the information you had on Minnie and her children. It saddened me that we did not have an exact death date for the 4 children. 3 girls and 1 baby boy. So I researched the family using http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/ (free website), and was able to locate the newspaper article about the fire. The fire occurred on 9 Dec 1904. The Phillipsburg Herald published an article on 15 Dec 1904 "Children Burned to Death" page 1, col. 1 This is a link to the article. http://1.usa.gov/15qhREn
