Owen Sheridan Co H 69th Pa Inf.
Trust find you well. I have been looking at the service of Owen Sheridam Co H 69th Pa and find you have an Find A Grave ident at FAD 93018713. Looking at the two headstones it looke like the one with the name Oenie on is is probably his marker,In Ireland there are a lot of names like this denoting a person who was well liked in the community etc.Are you certain that this is probably his wife family etc?. I have little information on him.except he was a Lieut and may have been dismissed or something like this but not sure
Any info appreciated.Best wishes.

Tom Desjardin
Isaac Orcutt
Hi Karl -

The index card I posted on the memorial is a summary of the Adjutant General's records on the soldier catalogued by the Maine State Archives. I will send more tomorrow. Orcutt was kept on the rolls and even transferred on paper in case he ever returned. He never physically joined the 20th.

William Sweeney
Charles Giddings
I noticed your posting for Charles Giddings on Find a Grave and I am wondering where you found information that he is the same Charles Giddings that got the Medal of Honor? I am Vice President of the Medal of Honor Historical Society of the U.S., and we were aware of this Charles Giddings but want proof so we can get him a Medal of Honor marker. They are very strict about proving a person is the recipient before allowing a marker.
We would appreciate any information you can provide. Also can you tell me the date and newspaper that obit. came from?

RE: Commodore Salter
You're most welcome. I looked for that plot several times before finding it first because the layout at that area is difficult to follow and second, I was looking for the name Armstrong, which doesn't appear anywhere. I don't know if you noticed but I also created memorials for and posted photos of Thomas and Emily Salter's grave stones, which show their names.

You may be able to get a diagram of the placement of the graves in the plot from the office or at least they could tell you where William's grave is in relation to Thomas and Emily's. Perhaps you could learn which of the illegible slabs is William's. If you do find out, let me know and I'll take a photo of it and post it. Also if you do get a diagram, you could post a photo of it together with a photo of the illegible stone belonging to William.

Dana Voros Zigler
Hi Karl,

It was our pleasure to help. As you can see, the marker is in need of conservation. It was only the inscription for Lillian (his wife?) that led me to find it.

RE: David M. Buchanan, Arlington Cemetery 2
I go to this cemetery at least once a week since its just a mile away. The next time I will take a third look and see if there is a flat stone that could have been covered up over the years.

I always use the GPS locator at Arlington unfortunately there is no stone. I really wanted to find this one, it being GAR related. If you have anymore searches at Arlington I will be happy to help.

Sunny Linda Lindley Johnson
RE: David T. Lindley Memorial
Dave, I thank you again for the updates and transfer of David "Tom" Lindley's memorial.
I can't tell you what it means to me!!
I have been doing family research since the '60s and am currently compiling a family history manuscript. I have family history about Tom, but would like to include the details I've read in the memorial you created, as I have nothing in depth, such as what you've written.
If you wouldn't mind, I would like your permission to use this info and will certainly credit you as the author. If it's okay, would you please send me a note with your okay and info at
I appreciate all you've done and the wonderful words you've written in Tom's memory.
I hope you had a wonderful time fishing for trout!
Take care and again, my deepest appreciation!

RE: Lyman Spinney Grave
You are most welcome. I did have fun. I actually found Highland Cemetery by accident; it is marked as .3 miles North of it's real location. I thought I was in a section of Orchard Grove Cemetery when I saw Lyman's grave.

I'll get the rotated one up shortly.
