DEGELDER, Leonard,
Kurt,
I have made contact with the Hamilton Cemeteries and this burial is actually at Garden Lane Cemetery (Flamborough), not Woodlands. Can you adjust/correct and resubmit the photo request. I have the location and will get the photo once corrected.
Thanks

Thanks for the offer but it isn't necessary. My husband's grandmother married a Dazell, but he was just one of a few husbands for her. :)

Kurt:
I think your suggestion will be best - delete the memorial you made and when I receive info that his cremains are buried, I will make the memorial in Woodland.

Thanks for your help and reply.

I'm sorry I can't help you out on the correct name of the cemetery. The day we took the picture we were on a road trip of cemeteries that were out of our area and had a hard time finding several of them.

Arlott S Erickson at Stavanger
Hello,

We have found that Arlotte S ERICKSON is buried at Lincoln Memorial Park in Oswego, Kendall County, not at Stavanger in LaSalle County. Someone has a memorial on for her at that cemetery. The cemetery office confirmed that she is buried there.

RE: Your 2012 photo request on Maria Jereczek Langosch, Altenheim Cemetery
Cool. I didn't actually grow up near Altenheim but when I was a kid in the '50s, I used to accompany my grandmother when she visited friends at Altenheim in Forest Park. I asked her one day why there were tombstones tossed all around in the woods behind Altenheim & she told me the whole story of "the cemetery that isn't a cemetery." Hope you do find the gravesite!

Take care,

Your 2012 photo request on Maria Jereczek Langosch, Altenheim Cemetery
Never thought to check to see if there might be any photo requests for Altenheim before today. I'm very familiar with the Altenheim Cemetery in Forest Park, IL. I really doubt you have the correct cemetery.

You state the death certificate refers to Altenheim in Arlington Heights. But your request is for Altenheim Cemetery in Forest Park, which is about 30 miles southeast of Arlington Heights.

The word "altenheim" simply means "old folks home" in German. There were a few of them in the Chicago suburbs, begun by German-Americans for German-Americans. The homes were not related to each other. Altenheim was just a popular name for them to use.

The Altenheim Cemetery in Forest Park was exclusively for the burial of residents of the Altenheim Nursing Home that was in Forest Park. They would not have buried any residents of the Arlington Heights Altenheim there.

There was an Altenheim Nursing Home in Arlington Heights, too, but they would have buried their own deceased. Whether or not they had they own cemetery on the grounds like the Altenheim in Forest Park or not, I don't know.

When you look at the findagrave photo for the Altenheim Cemetery in Forest Park, that's actually a photo for the entrance to the nursing home, not the cemetery. The cemetery was originally directly behind the nursing home. The cemetery that "appears" to be there now with the headstones is not the original cemetery. All the headstones were moved directly prior to the U.S. entering WW2, but the bodies were not moved.

I won't go into the history of what happened with the Altenheim Cemetery in Forest Park because it's kind of long & involved & I doubt you'd be interested because that can't be where Maria Langosch is buried anyway.

I would suggest, if you're still interested in searching, that maybe the historical society for Arlington Heights could give you some leads on where the bodies from the Altenheim up in Arlington Heights were buried. Because if you know that she lived at the Altenheim in Arlington Heights, there's no way she was buried at the Altenheim down in Forest Park.

Take care,

Cyn Plahuta

Delila Duffy
James Schultz Memorial
While I can appreciate that this person is a distant relative, I have had some bad experiences after transferring memorials. People for whatever reason add nothing to the memorials upon transfer, & still others manipulate the data which I have added. If this were a memorial without an obit already attached, then I would most certainly transfer. But as it is I have no guarantee that the obit will not be manipulated. If there is any pertinent information that you would like to see added, I will absolutely consider it.

Hi Kurt,

If you just transfer the memorials to me I will make changes. I didn't realize that I could edit the information from the obituary myself until after I sent the message to you. I will be adding gravesite photos and other info once spring arrives and the stones are able to be etched.

Thank you. I appreciate it.

I made contact with you last year and put their information on FindAGrave as you had their Burials listed as "unknown". Would you be so kind and delete their double Memorials as I entered their proper burials with Church notations that I acquired before going to the Cemetery and locating where they are buried. Thank you for your understanding.

Mary
Memorials 139009672, 85374197, 139833961
Kurt,
As per FindAGrave guidelines that I've pasted below, please edit the obituaries of the above memorials (my mother, mother-in-law, and father-in-law respectively) to remove all of the living survivors and remove the photos that were not taken by you and are considered under copyright.

Then please transfer those memorials to me.
Thank you.
As one further note, I was extremely hurt and dismayed that you created an account for my mother before we even had a chance to have her funeral. I understand you quite possibly have a passion for genealogy, as do I and others in my family, but that does not mean you should treat someone like a number so you can be the first one to get an account posted. Mom passed on the 19th of November, you had her memorial posted on the 20th, before an official obituary hit the newspaper and while we were still making final plans with the funeral home and purchasing flowers and contacting relatives. It might be different if you were a family member, but it's very unsettling that no one in either family knows who you are. Maybe in the future you can be a little more compassionate for those who lose their loved ones.

FindAGrave FAQs regarding the copying of obituaries, photos, and survivor information:

Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
Do not copy obituary notices from newspapers (or from funeral home notices or web sites) to an individual's memorial record unless you have permission from the newspaper to do so or you are the author of the obituary. Some obituaries that were published in 1922 or earlier are now in the public domain. In general, obituaries in newspapers are submitted by the family with assistance from the funeral home. If the obituary is added to the memorial record, list the newspaper and date the obit was printed for example "Published in the Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Internet Edition, April 11, 2007". Please do not include the names of living or surviving relatives in the biography, unless you have their permission. If you do not have permission to copy an obituary to a memorial, you may put a note stating the name of the newspaper and the date the obituary was published.
Please do NOT add photographs from obituary notices (unless you, personally took the photo), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record.

What about the privacy of living family members?
An individual's right to privacy disappears when they are deceased. The opinions of the relatives of the deceased fall on all sides of the question. Some people are angry to find a loved one when they come to Find A Grave, even if the memorial was added by another relative, as is usually the case, and some people are elated and send us notes of thanks for building an online memorial to their family member. If an immediate family member contacts us and wants information removed, we generally do so as a matter of respect for their wishes but we treat each request on a case by case basis. The names of living survivors will be removed from the biography section of a memorial upon request.

Calvin B Parriet Memorial# 68393113
Hi Kurt:
Re: duplicate memorial for Calvin Parriet.
I received a message tonight that there is a duplicate memorial for Calvin Parriet.

Would you please delete your memorial since I have a memorial made from has burial record in Woodland Cemetery?

Also, looks like there is an error in the spelling of his wife's first name on her memorial according to what I have in Calvin's bio.

Thanks, Jane
