RE: Madison County, NC Cemeteries
Correction: There's another barn plus a house and a shed over by the north edge of the property. See http://binged.it/1EsOS3r. They look very old.

Bryan,

I came across the deeds for Franklin Dockery's farm on Roberts Branch Road. They date all the way back to 1892. See summary below. The numbers in () are the book and page numbers of the deeds that you can view on Madison County Register of Deeds website at http://www.madisonrod.net/. It appears the only structure still standing is a barn. You can see it on the aerial maps at https://www.google.com/maps/place/35.7595827,-82.7486111. So far no luck in finding another Roberts Cemetery.

RE: Madison County, NC Cemeteries
Bryan,

Thanks for the extra information on Sarah Dockery. Most of it matches what I've been able to find so far. I'm kind of new to the Madison County area, so I don't have any ancestral ties to it (at least not that I know of). I live over by Upper Paw Paw, next to the Kirk Payne Cemetery, so I drive by Roberts Branch all the time while I'm on my way to Marshall.

I do use genealogy a lot. In fact, I have about a dozen family trees on Ancestry.com. Some are allocated for cemetery research. If you are ever on that website, look up Madison County Cemeteries by Doohat. It has some extra stuff that I don't always put on Find-a-Grave.

By the way, I noticed on Ancestry.com, when they indexed Sarah's death certificate, they put Ebbs Chapel for the death location, which is not correct. The death certificate says she died in township #7, which back then was Little Pine Creek. Today that area is considered township #1: South Marshall. Thought I would mention that in case you use Ancestry.com's records.

I have not yet been to the Thomas Ball cemetery. Judging from the aerial maps, it's only about 35-feet wide and 65-feet long. According to Jan Plemmons' survey, the oldest engraved headstone she found was dated 1918. She didn't mention how many unmarked grave sites there were.

RE: Madison County, NC Cemeteries
Hi Bryan. Thanks for asking about the Roberts cemeteries in Madison County. I hope I can help you find where your ggg-grandmother is buried, or at least maybe steer you in the right direction.

I can tell you right now, she's not in the Roberts cemetery on Roberts Hill Road, which is where Find-A-Grave has her listed. I've already walked that cemetery and photographed all the headstones.

I also noticed she's not listed in Jan Plemmons' 1998 cemetery survey of Madison County, which covers most of the Roberts cemeteries, but not all. According to the Madison County cemetery register, there are actually two Roberts cemeteries on Roberts Branch Road. One is called the Alan Roberts Cemetery (which you already know about), and the other is known as Roberts Cemetery. Unfortunately, the register doesn't say exactly where this Roberts Cemetery is located. I've already looked at aerial maps and some old survey maps, but have not found it yet. I may have to start digging through property deeds for that area. Sometimes they will mention a cemetery being on the property.

As far as the Ball Cemetery is concerned, are you aware there is one over by Little Pine called the Thomas Ball Cemetery. It's not that far from Roberts Branch. It could be the burial site for Frank Dockery.

I'll keep looking. Hopefully something new will pop up.

Shawn

I don't remember it being behind anyone's home. I believe it is on a main road. Sorry, I don't remember which road. I was traveling away from Taylorsville and the cemetery was on my left.

I don't live in Alexander County, NC. It has been years since I was at this cemetery. I don't remember the directions.

The cemetery is located on Sam Poole Lane, off Rink Dam Road in the Bethlehem Community of Alexander County, North Carolina, USA. It's near the Catawba River.

Sorry I can not be much help to you.

RE: Lou Creasy Ann Cable Hall memorial
Hi Bryan,

He is my Dad, Ernest Hall. He was 5 years old when his Mother and baby brother, Ersel died. You have met my sister, Sandra Hall Carver. I guess it was at Decoration at Cable Cemetery. I joined Ancestry.com last year. Would it be OK if I used your picture of my Grandmother's tombstone at her profile page? If you want too, you can e-mail me directly at henderson507@yahoo.com.

Hello Bryan - I noticed you photographed the headstone for Claude Ray Aldridge - located in Gastonia, NC (Hollywood Cemetery). I was just curious to know, what your relationship is to him ... if any, since you share the same surname.

I am related to his 1st wife "Ina Pearl Reneau" who you also photographed.

BTW ... Thx for you time and work.

Thanks for the great pix of Sarah Hyde and Samuel Hyde. May I post them on Ancestry.com for others to see? Thanks for your consideration.

Also, thanks for posting photos of Ellender and Crate Brooks in Lauada. Is there an updated published listing of individuals buried there?

Hope the transfers on Mary Cable and James Cable went thru okay. Let me know if I can help again.
