Hi,
Dowsing rods indicate she is buried at the original marker and listed on the double with Joe. I've added both photos; you may wish me to remove one or the other.

Hattie Swor photo request
Can you contact Grove Hill cemetery and get the burial locations for your requests: 214-381-7118
There are over 323 photo requests and the volunteers can not ask for that many locations.

Your requests will get filled with the location information. The cemetery does not like to cooperate with findagrave volunteers.
thanks!

RE: Spillman Photos!
You're welcome. There were several Spillman's buried next to each other so I included all of them.

RE: Big Thank You!!!
Thank you Susan. I hope we can stay in touch about our mutual family research. We will be in Dallas next year in June for our family reunion in Waco. I will certainly be planning to visit Garland and other cemeteries in the area. Will let you know. Best Regards, JHS

P.S. My husband and I concur he was not far from the gate at all. You could always submit another photo request asking for a photo from his marker looking toward the gate. We're far, far away from Old City right now and will probably not be back in the area, but perhaps another contributor can fulfill the request. Just a thought . . .

RE: D M Scarborough
Hi Susan, Actually my husband found him as we walked different parts of this historic and interesting cemetery. He has a knaack for that so, no, he wasn't hard to find. :-) Wish we had taken a scenery shot for you. I saw the note on his memorial tonight about him being right inside the gate. I'm not sure he was that close to the gate, but I think he found him rather quickly. We were on vacation on a road trip from Illinois and happened on this cemetery and noticed the requests. Sometimes we're pinched for time (even on vacation!) and I regret later important clues we may have left out. Loretta

RE: Huge Thank You For Pictures
You are most welcome. My husband and I went out to Applecreek cemetery that day and took several pictures and just really loved it. However, I cannot take credit for any of the other information that was added. Either it was already there or someone else has added it since.
The reason I became a volunteer picture taker is so many others have helped me with my family in Arkansas and Louisiana. I wanted to give back what I have received. You are so right when you said it is interesting doing research on family members. My daughter (who is now in her 30's) was given a school assignment to interview her grandparents by mail and then write a paper about them. I can't tell you how much we appreciate that teacher who asked her to do that. We learned things about their families that have helped put pieces of the puzzle together. It is priceless - especially since her grandfather's family (my husband's relatives) was and still is somewhat of a mystery. We still do not know where grandpa's mother died nor where she is buried.
I wish I could help you with where else to search for your family. Have you tried ancestry.com or rootsweb? There is a Cape Girardeau County Archive office phone 573 204-2331 that has lots of records but it would mean a trip to Jackson, Mo. I'm afraid. As for Apple Creek Cemetery - the number on the fence is Jim Hope 573 243-8809. Best of luck in your research. Ruth Smith

RE: John J. Word
I don't personally have information on the Words but John and Kate Bowser Word are both listed on Find A Grave in Palestine City Cemetery. Information from a cemetery survey says he was also married to Louise Campbell, though she is not listed as being buried in the same cemetery unless she remarried and is listed under another surname. Hope this helps.

Hi Susan,

You're very welcome! I also posted a photo of the family plot on E.E. Handley's memorial showing the placement of the four graves.
