I've had people get very hostile on this website, so it is just easier to just go ahead and delete mine, which I have done.
Thanks for everything!

Thanks for the obituary. I had a little trouble getting the link to work but I finally got it open and downloaded only to discover that I could not read the obit so I had to go back on the site and open it up to read and then copy, finally got it posted. Thank you. This is a great service.

Since that other person has the entry with the correct cemetery and so forth, I should probably delete mine. Do you want to transfer that picture of Donnabelle's obituary over to the other? If so, please let me know when you are done, and I will delete the memorial.

Hello: Thanks for the obituary. I have posted the information.
I would appreciate any others that you may find.

I am not trying to interfere with your hobby in any way. I agree that this information is important. But the fact is that there are rules for this site and also copyright laws. Those rules are based on these laws and both are in place for a reason. Even though I don't necessarily agree with or understand all of them, I follow them. It is perfectly legal to paraphrase any obituary and cite the source though not as easy as "lifting" or "Stealing" things off of the web. "lifting" is the term that findagrave uses for this illegal practice. You could take the time to paraphrase and actually type out the important information contained in these obituaries as well as give proper citation and send all of the information through the edit tab. That is the proper and legal way to do what you are doing. Most contributors would add all of the information that you would send and cite the publication as well as you as the source. Thank you for removing them. I was not trying to cause any kind of argument. I recently had someone steal several family photos of mine from my family tree on ancestry.com and post them to a bunch of memorials that I had created for findagrave.com. I was furious. They have since been removed. The fact is that it is never ok to upload any photo or publication that you don't own or own the copyrights to even if you mean well. Also it is never a good idea to creat a memorial from an obituary. I have been involved in Genealogy for 10 years and have seen many obituaries that contain inorrect burial information. Try going to the cemetery and photographing markers and then create some memorials and upload some photos. That's what findagrave.com is really about. Not obituary collecting.

|J Farris||Stolen Obituaries|
Please remove obituaries from Edward Driggett memorial #133308493 and Clarence Fater memorial #130209349. Please DO NOT add any more copyrighted obituaries or photos to any memorials that I have created. Noncompliance will result in the notification of findagrave.com administrators.

My name is J Farris and I noticed that you posted obituaries to some Driggett memorials, one created by me and one by Kurt Johnson. Are you the author of the obituaries? Both of these people died long after the 1920's and these obituaries are protected under copyright laws. Did you read the rules concerning obituary submisions? Do you have permission to copy these obituaries? Why did you not cite the source? Are you a relative of these people?

** Thank you for providing a copy of Mr. Fowler's Obituary. If you have a copy of Mrs. Fowler's Obituary as well, that would be appreciated.

Thank you - I appreciate that - no need to hurry - that's impossible on findagrave anyway. No, there aren't any special ones, thanks.

|Bonnie Miller||copying eBay photos is illegal|
Hello again from the irate eBay seller - you are wrong about families not being able to find grandma's photo at findagrave. I always post a photo here after it has sold. Make a buck? As I said before in the message you deleted, I barely break even and often give away or greatly discount photos for family. If you're really interested in making sure people can find grandma here, why don't you buy some of the many id'd photos available on eBay, research them, list them on eBay, pay the fees, do the shipping, etc. Then see how you feel about people who play Robin Hood with your photos.

It won't hurt to ask, lots are willing to transfer to a relative, then those that are't, they stick to the rules, which I hope they change some day..

Thank you for the suggestions, would you care to manage these memorials, Frank, Fred. Lois, Robert Gamble, and Ione Goldsmith?
I am slowing backing out of Find A Grave, adding information to the memorial and turning them over to a Friend.
