Agnes Brown Ammons
Luke Strickland
Could you tell me the maiden name of Luke Strickland's mother? On her memorial it says Mettie N Strickland.

Thank you,

Agnes Brown Ammons

Alfred Sinclair Lucas 43332223

I saw a floral tribute, stating 'family' and wonder if you know whether this man was a minister?

Also, I have a Sinclair ancestor from NC who was "Alfred Sinclair." Thanks. winnie

John Mincey Brown/ Condary Brown
Linda,
I have seen this before on Find A Grave. Whoever created these cemeteries has merged the names of these into one cemetery John Mincey Brown. The coordinates for Condary Brown are 35.552338,-78.240201 and the coordinates for John Mincey Brown are 35.552292,-78.236192. Close but not the same. The picture of the lady standing next to fence appears to be Condary Brown as you stated close to road way. The John Mincey Brown cemetery is down a private path in a field. I had to get permission from land owner to access the cemetery. In reality they are about 1200 ft apart separated by woods. Takes about 1.1 mile to drive. If you can get the creator of the cemeteries to separate the names and create another cemetery good luck. If I had your email I could send you a Google Earth picture of the two locations. Better yet I have surveyed and photographed both cemeteries in question plus many many others for the the www.johnstoncountygenealogy.org site. This site has listings of over 1200 cemeteries in this county alone. we have done only about 300 cemeteries with pictures of headstone and GPS coordinates along with mapping and satellite views. These cemeteries are both in the Selma Township. That will help narrow down the search. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions. Ross

I am so sorry. I did not catch that in the obituary. You are right, Alma Haithcock was married to Buddy Tyndall. Buddy Tyndall's sister was once married to my brother.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

Cleotha McLamb
Social Security Records and NC Death records show Cleotha as one name. The World War I draft card does not show the actual card which would indicate his handwriting and signature. I will note your information in the bio, but based on records that are readily identifiable, I will not be changing the name.

I totally agree. There are many who send edits that do not know what they are talking about.

I have explained myself many times that if a child shares his fathers first name that it does NOT not automatically make him a Jr. My own brother has our dads first name and middle initial but his middle name is different.
Why? Because my parents did not want him to be called junior!

Unfortunately if you don't accept an edit quite often the site will change it anyway.

Hence I often get irate contributors blaming me.

I NEVER add any title or add on which is not on the marker. I will putting the bios if I feel it is correct, but what gives anyone the rights to change the name from what is on the marker?

I am so sorry that this happened and have removed the jr..

Ava Ann Tart Barefoot, #131683417.
Hi Linda,
I see from her Memorial page that Ava was your great grandmother. Her parents were James Robert Barefoot and Catherine Kitsie Tart. I am hoping you can help me with the parents of Kitsie. If it is the same family she had a brother named John A. Tart, and their father was William R. Tart. William R. Tart was the son-in-law of William Gainey, according to a deed of William Gainey's. Does this sound correct to you? Any info you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks, Larry Draughon

Hello: So sorry to be getting back on this. I lost a lot information when our home burned and am still trying to get everything back together. She had not yet been entered into ancestry.com at that time so once I am up to speed with her family I'll get back with you.

Hi Linda: Jeff transferred her and her husband to me in 2012. Didn't notice there was no death date. Thank you for letting me know about her. I grew up on what is now known as Phillips Rd. Moved out west over 40 years ago. Spent a lot of time walking around in the Starling Cemetery.

You did I believe. But, I appreciate you doing it again, just in case. I know how it goes when you get busy, you can forget all the things you took care of. (Especially at my age!) Happy hunting! Vonna

I am happy to transfer generational grandparents. I found her information in the 1940 WPA records held in the state archives. The name of the cemetery is from the book, "Gravestone Inscriptions" Wayne county.
