If his records are correct he is on the other side of the cemetery. There is a lady buried to the left of Vida. I'm not sure who is on the right.

RE: Vida Laymon
I wondered if the two were connected. Vida's grave is in a sort of potter's field on the south side of a large cemetery. Many single graves with the temporary brick markers - not overly well kept. I have been working in this section since late fall. I had several names there. Like I said the recent rains have helped.

Robert is buried on the north side of the cemetery in a fairly well kept area. I haven't worked in this section but have several graves to look for and will be there at some point. Do not take the request off of the site! This is a large cemetery with a number of researchers who take the time to look, sometimes deeply, for graves. It just takes a while as you know.

Were Vida and Robert husband and wife? If so why weren't they buried together?

You are welcome. There a number of these temporary bricks that are buried. Some only a few inches others very deep. This one was about 6 inches below the surface. We rarely get the type of rain in our area needed to make the ground soft enough to find them. Lately we have had a lot of rain. If you would like I can suggest a good monument company here in the area for a permanent marker. Take care.

De nada; you're welcomed, Charles...there have often been morphs/discrepancies in Westerfelds and Westerfields in Albuquerque; that name comes to mind as having often been misspelled and sometimes never quite figured out for sure...ever since Albuquerque had both a mayor and fire chief with the last name Westerfeld ~ :)

You are very welcome, Charles. As you can see, Holy Cross isn't very well maintained. It is mowed, but no trimming of the stones is done. Ordinarily, I am meticulous about pulling off any grass over the stone, but every flat stone here is partially or completely covered. One would need someone to edge the stone, while the other took photos. In some sections of this cemetery, the stones are several inches below ground, and are completely covered with grass, names cannot be read. This is why there are so many requests pending, it is a hard one to do. It's still fun and rewarding to get them, though. I am glad I could be of assistance.

Yes I believe so . I went to the conservation people since the cemetery was taken over by them years ago. Someone at sometime drew a hand written map of some of the graves and their location. Lottie was mapped out as being to the right of Mr Berry. But her stone has been broken to pieces, not sure how but I did find one small piece that has parts of some of the letters in her first name . You can make out the bottom half of the O,T,T,I and part of the E.Do you want me to email you the picture because I don't have the memorial? Tamra

Hello....I put the photos of Duncan Berry on the memorial site.I hope you like them.I don't have the memorial to put up Lottie Ingersoll's memorial though. Not sure where it went. And all I found of Lottie's gravesite were a few broken pieces. Her stone was all broken up.I did happen to photograph the few stones and after closely checking them out, found on a piece were parts of her first name.If you can post her memorial I can add what I found. Did you get the message that I found Duncan Berry's stone?I did go back out there to try to get a picture . What were the odds.My husband felt something hard with his crutch and I said,"Oh wouldn't it be awesome if its Mr.Berry, and when I knelt down and pulled the grass away I seen the name Duncan! The grass and dirt almost has it covered like a carpet.I would be willing to pull all that off around his stone and using just water, rinse off the surface to be able to read the inscription with your permission. I seen at the top that he was a Mason but the rest needs a little tlc. Please let me know.Tamra

I FOUND MR.BERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It bugged me that I couldn't find him so I went back out.Actually my husbands crutch happened upon a stone and after I peeled back some grass and weeds, there he was.Its lying flat on the ground and is very dirt filled.Do I have your permission to take out some water and a soft brush to clean it?If I take the picture now you wont be able to read the info.Let me know....Tami

Hello...I would think the Bremer Court House would be of help . It is in Waverly and this certain cemetery is just outside of town.I looked up the phone number for you . It's 319-352-0145.As far as those stones in the picture, the fronts were pretty much non readable. I hope you have good luck with the court house and if there's anything more I can do..I'm right here. I did ask if he was in the Kibbey niche with his wife and was told no. It might be worth you sending an email to the records office attaching a copy of the documentation showing the remains were shipped to Forest Lawn. They can do a deeper search. They do have a storage area where ashes are stored if no niche was purchased or specified. It is called the Utility Columbarium. Could be he is waiting there. I have found the records office to be quite helpful.
You will need to call for an email address to the records office -- it is no longer on the website.
Once you have a location, I would be happy to go out and get the marker photo.

I'm actually not sure as I've seen it both ways but I would probably go with what the cemetery has. Allie is the aunt I mentioned, she married Carl later in life and they didnt have children together.
