RE: Sarah Potter
I will keep an eye out for Mary (first wife, mother of Sarah). You might consider adding her name into the bio line of Sarah's memorial OR her husband's memorial - you never know when someone will take the right photograph in the right cemetery and will be able to link them all together.

I had come across the Humphrey genealogy on one occasion when I was researching other Humphreys - I couldn't find a birth year on someone. When something isn't right with parents' deaths or birth years, etc - I often cross-reference with Ancestry or a general internet search before entering dates/placed of birth, etc. I hope my entries are as accurate as I can possibly get them.

Sally - all the information is going onto Find A Grave. My theory was that those who wished to follow their family but could not afford an Ancestry subscription nor still live in the area where their ancestors lived, this would be almost their only source other than I am in the "P's" of entering these deaths from a microfilm. There are over 12,000 entries - many of which no longer have tombstones since their deaths were so long ago and the tombstones are no longer standing because I also go out into the cemeteries to take photos. Fortunately, one gullible woman by the name of Joyce DeLong offered to help me so we might actually finish this project yet this year. I am eternally grateful for her help. Everything I find is on the memorials I create or I send edits, asking others to add parents/husbands under the "bio" section until they are found and can be linked to their other family members. I am hoping they honor this request.

Your kind words are the stuff that keeps me going and the push to finish this project - thank you.

Sally - I am transcribing Wisconsin Deaths & Burials records (Walworth County) onto Find A Grave so that everyone can have a proper burial location so that their family can find them. This was one of those records and the parents were listed on her death record - thus my edit to you. I try to pass along everything that I find, just in case it will help others with tracing their family history. You can do what you wish with the edit request because you know your history. I was just passing along the information that I found. I am not related - just a local researcher who took on this project.

Hi Sally. No problem - Happy to help a colleague! It's amazing how so many young people did not make it to adulthood back then. And that's not even counting the wars! Jeff

Knisely photo request at Ottawa Hills Cemetery
Greetings! This cemetery will not give out grave locations to photographers, citing privacy reasons. With thousands of burials, a location is necessary. Please call their office at 419-536-8321 to get the location. I go there at least once a week when the office is closed to do the requests. Thanks!

Mary Katherine Knisely Pearson
Hi Sally,
I'm trying to locate the grave site of Mary Katherine. There is another Mary C. Pearson in the Scipio Cemetery, #67992682 Could this be the same person, but with the wrong middle initial and death date? She is in the same section as Albert and the other Pearson families, and the stones all seem to match. I'd like to connect all the family members.

RE: missing last names
Hi, Most of it is cause I go by what is on headstones. Otherwise I'm not sure what to put. And most of the time people will tell me what to add or correct on them. I go and take the pictures and put them on the one it goes to most of the time. DeLyle

Hi Sally,

Yes, I do have relatives at the North Allis Cemetery in the Onaway area. My Great-Grandparents are buried there. Their names are Vincent and Mary Ann Kirby. There are a few other Kirby relatives buried there also.

Hi Sally,
So I inquired about the handmade stone and no one seems to know anything about it. Apparently Clarabelle was not in close contact with the rest of the family after she was married. If you are ever able to find out something about it, I would love to know.

a P.S./Benjamin Robinson II memorial
And thank you for your comments on Benjamin's memorial. A lot of work over the past several years by four of us in the family line has went into that genealogy work.

And icing on the cake is that photo of Benjamin, provided to me by my dad's sister, my Aunt Muriel, who has been the family genealogist for 30+ years. She's wonderful.

Pulling all of this together really makes someone's life and story seem more real, especially since we never met on this side of heaven. ;)

RE: Lytle cemetery pictures (Benjamin Robinson II)
Hi! I just wanted to say how moved I was by your comments and story. I love this area of Michigan and am jealous you have a place on Lake Huron!

I grew up in rural Ingham County but have deep heritage through my grandparents to Chippewa County, in Pickford, Stalwart, DeTour, and Sault Ste. Marie. Although I now live in the South (Atlanta), my brother and I have 10 acres in Pickford on my grandparent's original property on Fairview Road, so I'm an official tax-paying Yooper. :)

I have a cousin on the Robinson side that would like to know more about where you found the stone in Lytle Cemetery. You could answer me here on the wall or email me privately at

God bless! Debra

Hi Sally,
Thanks for the transfer. Unfortunately, I don't really know why the handmade stone, although I am also very intrigued by it. I will talk to some family members and see if they know anything about it and I'll let you know.

Hi Sally, I was wondering if you would consider transferring Clarabelle Cole's memorial (70609766) to me as she is my GG-aunt and I would love to add more to her page. Thank you!

RE: John Horn and wife Susannah M (Knauss) Horn
Are John and Susannah your ancestors? Would you like me to sign the memorials over to you? I basically put them on when I was working off the original photo my father took. I figured it might help someone locate them, but they are not in my family tree.

RE: John Horn and wife Susannah M (Knauss) Horn
Hi Sally - I do not have a better picture than what you see there. That is basically an all name monument put up when a local school preserved the cemetery and cleaned it up. There are also headstones in the cemetery. My father snapped a picture of the memorial when he passed through one time. I don't live in that state so I cannot take any pictures, but I think you should take a look at this web page.
They have all kinds of info, and some photos, of the actual stones in that cemetery. There is one for John and Susannah and you can click on it to enlarge it. Maybe there will be others that you are interested in too.

Robert Horn
It seems that there are other members of Robert Horn's family buried in the Scipio Cemetery. The other members include the parents: Joseph A. and Jennie, and their is an Arlee: 1921 - 1923. There is also a Vernon A. and Ruth D. The stones are all located together. If you would like the pictures, just email me and I can send them to you or add the others to the cemetery and I will upload the pics.
