RE: Tarpley 18198541
Sorry, I do not have any other information. I have looked around for Tarpleys, but cannot figure out which one this is. Happy to transfer if you would like my Tarpleys in this cemetery :)

Thank you so much Lucile. I am still laughing out loud after reading your last message to me.

Big grins...... I get it. Funny how easy it is to misunderstand stuff some times.......... Sorry.

Have a super weekend, and know that I appreciate the kind words.

RE: photo Mary Roach 8736290
Well, it certainly took some time, but I finally got around to retaking the photograph of the Roach headstone. On the previous visit I didn't remember to take my cleaning kit with me. Today I had the brush and rags and grass shears to make the stone a bit more presentable. This cemetery is just a few miles away, but the country roads make the location seem very distant from the city. I enjoyed the visit.

William Brittin
Thank you for your inquiry. I found the original image which was cropped before posting on FindAGrave. The inscription at the top appears to read "In Memory of Capt William Brittin who died July 22 1783 Aged 45 years". There is another inscription below which is almost completely covered by the new military stone. The only things I can make out are "rittin", "1797", and "rs". I have to assume that this refers to another Brittin. Admittedly, it doesn't seem possible that the first Capt. Brittin could be the same Capt. Brittin mentioned on the replacement military gravestone as one died in 1783 and the other fought in the War of 1812.??? If I'm in the area again, I'll try to find out what is on the rest of the old stone.

Unmarked - Sec NE 6 row infant 10 space 12 - infant child of Benj. Holcomb - aged 7 days died 4/10/1905. This is the info I documented on the picture. This section is a section of infant graves rather than a family plot. I also checked with the cemetery office which is where I received the info that this was the child of Benj. Holcomb (I checked there is not a Benjamin Holcomb buried in Ferncliff).
Here is a listing of Holcombs in Ferncliff
HOLCOMB INFANT d 04/10/1905 N_E Lot SG6 SubLot 0 Row I10 Space 12

Ms. Cobb,

I went back to the cemetery and retook the photos after spraying the grave marker with water, some of the letters were more visible. Thanks for the tip. I posted the pictures. You are welcome to copy the photos for your family files.

RE: Your Bio & Larimers
Oh, and those Larimer's are a hard bunch to decipher. My 4th g/gpa, Robert Larimer, supposedly came here with his father when he was a boy. Have never been able to find out his father's name! So many of them came to Fairfield Co, Ohio and settled in the same area and basically named their children the same! I wonder why our ancestors didn't think we would want to know about them sometime down the road and leave us some info on them!?! :-)
