RE: JANE SAFRANIA LANE B.1822
It seems we are at the same road block. I have also asked a Find A Grave volunteer to photograph headstones of LANE family members buried at Hill Cemetery located in Trinity Co, TX. I am in WA state so it is difficult for me to visit the cemetery. Good tombstone photos may open up many clues to our mystery of Jane S. Lane. Accurate spelling of Jane's name, DOB & death date would really help. At this point in my research I only know Jane was Oliver's wife and mother of our great grandmother Betie/Bettie/Betty Lou LANE MYERS. Trinity Co. census records (1860,1870,1880,1900) give clues that Jane S. was born between 1832-1840. Jane's transcription listed in Find A Grave for Hill Cemetery indicate her DOB as 1822 and death date as 1880. The transcription dates are incorrect. Jane was still alive in 1900 because she was enumerated with her husband, Oliver in the 1900 Trinity Co. census. I think the Find A Grave dates and her name "Jane Safrania" may be someones guestimate. Michael R. Mathews, Sr. posted in 2001, Oliver & Jane's marriage date was November 1833 GA. This date is incorrect; Oliver was b.1827 and he would have been 6 years old in 1833. Oliver is enumerated in 1850 Rusk Co TX living alone. He married Jane between 1850 and 1857. Sophronia (age 15 est. birth abt1845) & William C. LANE (age 4 est. birth abt1856) are enumerated in 1860 census for Sumpter PO, Trinity Co., TX. The two are living with members of THORNTON & NEUE (not NEAR) families. This Sophronia & William C. LANE are not siblings of Oliver Cromwell LANE b.1827 but possibly another generation of LANE. Oliver's siblings are Sophronia b. abt1841 and Wm. C. b. abt1834. I have searched extensively for Nancy WILLIAMS b. abt1817 in TN. There are many Nancy WILLIAMS but none documented with daughters by the name of Jane (or Nancy Jane). As I am sure you know, our great grandmother, S.E. "Sophronia" E., aka Betie/Bettie Lou LANE MYERS was not so kindly referred to as a "half-breed" by one of her daughter-in-laws. My aunt Martha Jean LANCASTER PREUSS believed her to be a member of the Cherokee tribe but she was unsure because the family never really talked about her heritage. I have a photo of Bettie Lou LANE MYERS with her husband, our greatgrandfather "Jeff" MYERS, my grandmother, Peggy "Addie" MYERS LANCASTER, her husband Albert, and our great aunt, Lorena "Rena" MYERS MILLER & her husband, Willie. Best wishes, Karen

JANE SAFRANIA LANE B.1822
WOULD YOU HAVE A PHOTO OF JANE SAFRANIA LANE'S HEADSTONE IN HILL CEMETERY? I AM LOOKING FOR PROOF OF JANE'S DOB AND SPELLING OF NAME. I KNOW JANE'S HUSBAND, OLIVER CROMWELL LANE IS BURIED IN HILL CEMETERY NEAR HIS MOTHER, ANNIE CLEVELAND LANE. DO YOU HAVE DOCUMENTS SHOWING THE RELATIONSHIP OF LANE FAMILY TO THE READ, THORNTON AND NEAR FAMILIES OF TRINITY CO. TX? I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR THE MOTHER AND FATHER OF JANE SAFRANIA LANE. JANE WAS BORN ABT.1822 TN. CENSUS INDICATES BOTH OF JANE'S PARENTS WERE BORN TN. NO PROOF SHOWING NANCIE/NANCY WILLIAMS, AGE 53, BORN IN TN IS JANE SAFRANIA'S MOTHER. NANCIE/NANCY WILLIAMS IS LIVING WITH THE JANE & OLIVER LANE FAMILY IN 1870 TRINITY CO CENSUS.

RE: Tom and Minnie West
Thank you very much for getting back to us. I am Gradyne [sister to Juli]and very grateful for any information about our ancestors.

We have been doing research for many years and I have avoided history on Tom West so your information on Tom West is a huge lead for us.
The information about his sister is a fact we did not have.

I have listed in my research Benjamin T. Powell, with same dates, however I am showing him as a brother to William H Powell [father of Minnie Powell West] Still an interesting connection...
The brothers I am showing to Minnie are A.J. born in 1874 and William M. born in 1879.

We would be more than happy to share any information and pictures you might be interested in. I have a picture of Minnie West and Mary Ethel West Butler if you would like.

Thanks again for your reply.

Also your cousin in Texas

Tom and Minnie West
Mr. Ford, My name is Juli Rowlett. I am the great granddaughter of Tom and Minnie West. I was reading the messages between you and Mrs. West and was fascinated. The story as told in our family was that Thomas was dropped off on the steps of an orphanage and taken in by the elderly lady who ran it. We were told that her surname was West and that is where the name came from. I had never heard of a sister. I also found the infirmary record where he is listed as an attendant but that is all I have ever found. I would love to hear from you and learn more about Thomas. Their daughter, Mary Ethel, is my paternal grandmother and her son Grady is my father. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Donna Hill
Glen Ford
I live in Richland Springs. A lady contacted me from Lohn tonight asking if I had any information about Glen Ford who grew up in Lohn and whose parents were Ralph W. Ford and Margy Thelma Garrett. The Lohn community wants to honor veterans, and she would like to find his relatives. Glen is buried in the Richland Springs Cemetery as is his dad. She assumed I was related to his mother. I am not related to his mother and could not find any family connection to her here. According to this lady, Glen had a sister Gladys who may live in Houston. I know Richland Springs has had many Fords who have lived here in the past, but none of them are here now. I can't find anything on Ancestry.com. Do you have any information on this man that I may share with this lady?

RE: Ford family memorials
Emma McClary was my great grandfather's sister. My great grandfather was Sion Hix Bostick. He was married for less than three years to my great grandmother and they had one child. My great grandfather and their parents all died in 1918 from the flu pandemic.

Dale
Lenora Jane Myers Gwinn, The Dtich Cemetery, Uvalde, TX
We searched the entire cemetery for Lenora Jane Myers Gwinn and could not find a grave for her. However, we did find a grave for a Leona Jane Spencer who also died in the same year (1946) - her birthdate was 1875. She is buried next to a James Spencer who was born in 1872 the same year you show for Lenora's birth. The records for The Ditch Cemetery in Ancestry.com do not show a Lenora Gwinn, nor are there any Gwinn's or Myers' in the cemetery. Could your Lenora have remarried James Spencer after a first husband passed away? Since there are only 66 graves and Leona Jane is not the most common name, we thought that might me the case. We did take a picture of Lenora Spencer's grave.

This cemetery is very old, and we have been told that some of the graves washed away in a flood in the late 1800's.
