Camelia was honored with a 95-year birthday party Saturday with about 70 of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren present. She was born June 8, 1908, at Troy, Ore, to Plato and Ada Buchanan McNeil. She resided at Grouse Flats and Mountain View, Wash, prior to moving to Caldwell. She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1925. Camelia married Roy A. Johnson at Lewiston Oct. 27, 1927. They farmed at Cloverland until 1946, when the family moved to Newport, Wash. Camelia was always a hardworking mother and farm wife. She drove tractor, built fences, hauled hay, raised a large garden and canned fruit and vegetables, all without the luxury of electricity and the modern conveniences we enjoy today. Although money was not always plentiful, Camelia made sure none of her children ever went to bed hungry. While at Newport, she worked as a waitress. After the family moved to Lewiston in 1951 she worked as a waitress at the Raymond Cafe downtown. Roy died in 1953 as a result of an industrial accident. Camelia married John M. Brost Sept. 15, 1956, at Clarkston. They spent 30 happy years together. John passed away March 10, 1986. She is survived by two sons, Edward Johnson of Clarkston and Leroy Johnson of Lewiston; three daughters, Ellen Allenberg of Spokane, Beverly Greene and Pat Henderson, both of Clarkston; stepdaughter, Bernice Kuhnel of Portland, Ore.; sister, Caryl Lamb of Clarkston; 25 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
