Your note on Stephen Hamlin 1s memorial

I saw your note on Stephen Hamlin 1s memorial.

I have been researching the Hamlin family ancestry for over 40 years, and compiled a database of over 40,000 descendants of Stephen Hamlyn 1, who came to America from England in 1634, and settled in Surry County, Virginia. If you descend from Stephen 1, you belong in the database too, and I am eager to share my discoveries with you. Heres what I propose to send you:
- A personal Ancestor Report, generation by generation, showing birth, spouse, marriage, death, and burial information for all your Hamlin ancestors (from you to Stephen-1)
- A Kinship Report (identifies your kinship to all your Hamlin ancestors)
- A Relationship Chart (shows how you and I are related)
- A Descendant Report, generation by generation, showing birth, spouse, marriage, death, and burial information for all Stephen-1 descendants

All of my information is in a system called Family Tree Marker from which I can very easily create a wide range of reports, like the four above. Thumbnail photos are included on the reports when available. The reports are suitable for permanent binding.

If you have a computer and email, simply send me an email at my address below.

Hoping to hear back from you.

I also found and created memorials for Absalom Pursel, 167927511 & Catharine "Boyer" Pursel, his wife, 167927536 at Greenwich Cemetery. If the records I found on Ancestry are correct he was William and Mary Ann "Iliff" Pursel's son and so I linked him with them. If those records were incorrect, let me know and I will remove them as his parents.

Hi Joan, I don't think you'll get far wit that. There have been some difficulties with that part of the family, difficulties that relate to his passing. The wife doesn't tall to anybody. Let me check with his father though, I may be able to get some help from him.

Erik Lee Bohnstedt
Hi Joan,

I was wondering if you remember where the info was obtained that Erik Lee Bohnstedt was buried at White Chapel Memorial Gardens? Evidently a photo request was returned flagged as a problem because apparently the cemetery has no record of him being buried there. I'm wondering if this came from an online reference that was in error. Any insight on this?

Thanks, Thomas Bohnstedt

Hi Joan, after I sent the reply I realized you were talking about Erik Bohnstedt and Bohnstedts in Missouri. What happened us this: Our Bohnstedt clan first settled in Ohio in the 1800s. One part of that family moved on to Illinois. From there one of the sins moved on to Indiana, and another moved on to Missouri. From Missouri one branch developed in Nebraska, but then later moved to Oklahoma. Another part branched off to the west coast. Bohnstedt name has just about all died out in Ohio, but there are still numbers in Illinois, Missouri, Okkahoma, Indiana. Also, from these main groups, many smaller sub-branches throughout the U.S.

Hi Joan!

You mentioned "a lot of Bohnstedts in this area". Which area are you referring to? I've been updating (and creating) memorials for Bohnstedts all over the U.S.(we're all related, you see, we all belong to the same clan).

Are you referring to Missouri, or Oklahoma, or some other region? Both the aforementioned still have substantial numbers of Bohnstedts.

Your welcome, my pleasure. Is Lola buried at the Lex Cemetery? I couldn't find her name on the database.

I certainly appreciate your efforts on behalf of my ancestor, John D. Norris. How can I document your work in crediting your putting the information on findagrave. I certainly will do so. His wife is also documented in this cemetery

After I left my standard use the edit button and waited overnight and did not get request via edit, finally brain thinks, maybe this not your memorial and the person will need to send another e mail to let you know. So checked. Seen it was yours so I deleted the one close up with the flowers and the note that could be read. Do you want the other one removed?

I deleted Rootsweb. It is available only on and that is where I put the note, not Rootsweb cause I haven't used or updated it in years.

I didn't know my tree was on Rootsweb. I only know of Ancestry... Let me do some checking.

Please use the edit buton that will take to the memorial. And put your request for changes there. Thank you,

RE: Joel Freeman
I have been working on the famous "Swearingen" lines (many books have been published). My husband is also related to them through the Beck and Buchanan lines on his dad's side. They even married into the Todd (i.e. Dowdle) lines on his mama's side of the family...

When researching my biological side of my line I found where my bio and adopted lines were related... That was strange...

Yes, info is put out there by so many people now. Thank God Ancestry doesn't allow living people to show... Is any of the info I have noted about the living, if so I will remove it immediately. I don't like that aspect either and am thankful to Ancestry for removing it.

Thanks for checking out my photography on FB. I am really glad you like it. I have been working on some photos the last two days that I took and will hopefully post later tonight. Then will get back onto the Swearingens.... :>)

I added this to each one I found a note on:
Source: GenealogyJoan / findagrave

No infringement was intended. This is part of his mother's line (Dowdle) and when I start researching a family, I keep going back and around to find as many descendants as possible.

I would be glad to, what is full name and date of birth for this Joel? I have several on file...
Over 79,000 people in my database tracing my husband's line, my adopted line and my bio line.

Magdaline "Minnie" Cook Clark
Just wondering what documentation you found of Minnie's burial in Greer County, OK. I am asking because I located her death certificate in Buena Vista, Hutchinson, Texas on January 25, 1944. Would she have been transported to OK?

Thanks for all you do.
