RE: Memorial# 103335345
Hugh Franklin Smith was one of Willie Mae Johnson White's husbands. She had several sons by him.

RE: re: Rev Guy Smith
I saw your message on Stella's message board on the memorial for Rev Guy Smith. I was looking for any others who might be doing research on our ancestor. I have been to the plantation site of Rev Guy's grandson, John Smith, Jr., in Pittsylvania County, VA looking for his grave site as well (no luck so far). We do have a copy of John, Jr.'s marriage certificate. Which of Rev Guy's children is your lineage? I found a distant cousin in Seattle who descended from another of John, Sr's sons from his 1st wife, Anne Bowker Smith.

re: Rev Guy Smith
Amy, Rev Guy is my 7th great-grandfather via his son, John's, line. Since I live in the Tidewater area of VA, I have visited Abingdon Parish Church(now Episcopal) on several occasions in search of his grave along with the grave of his daughter-in-law, Anne Bowker Smith (John's 1st wife). They are buried somewhere within the enclosed wall surrounding the current church. On my last trip there, the church secretary showed me a grid map of that part of the cemetery that someone tried to identify all those buried there. I'm going to go back and look at the map again to see if I can get my bearings on a possible gravesite The church records kept at a parish member were burned in a fire in the early.

I will keep your Proctorville request in mind. I get up there once or twice a year. I'll also check with Briggs Library, they have some maps of area cemeteries. Just an FYI, if you don't know already, Briggs has a genealogy section on their website with lots of info. Several volunteers are going thru old courthouse records and scanning them into the system.

Yes, feel free to use them. If you come to one that isn't very good, let me know, I'll take another. Sometimes the weather just doesn't cooperate.

Thanks for the edit suggestion! I've transferred her memorial to your care. I'm assuming this is family of yours since most of your work seems to be out of state. I have no relation to her - just trying to document one of my favorite cemeteries. If you would like transfer of any other family members in this plot - please don't hesitate to ask!

All my best,
Lara

RE: Grays in Randolph/Wayne IN area
HI Amy,

I did some checking and found that,
Miles Gray married Elizabeth Morris July 21,1825 Wayne Co Indiana. I did find Elizabeth Morris Gray in the 1850 census on the same page as Jesse, with her children Daily 1827, Elizabeth 1829, Julia 1831, and John 1834. I also found her place of burial at Mt. Gilead in Randolph Co, I had took the picture this summer of her marker it says Elizabeth Gray wife of Miles.

Jesse Gray born abt 1792 married Betsy Elizabeth Longfellow, Sept 15,1831 Wayne Co Ind.

I found that Daily married March 15,1851 Mary Jane Cadwallader.

I do think that Miles is more than likely buried at Willow Grove or New Garden Friends. If you was to have access to Ancestry they have tons of Quaker records on line now.

If I find anything I will let you know
Dave

HI Amy,

Can I ask was the family Quakers?, This area is rich with quaker families. Greenfork twp is in the southern part of Randolph county and Fountain City where Willow Grove is located is in the northern part of Wayne county so they are right next to one another..

I will check for Jesse and more for Miles Gray to.

Have a great day

Hi Amy,

By chance do you know he parents names? then they will be linked that way with the siblings, but there is no way to just link siblings.

I can check my source if we find her parents, it may be recorded on a record

Julia Gray
HI Amy,

I did some checking and found that Julia was born in 0ct 7,1831 and died in 1849, I have seen in the 1850 mortality schedules that folks who passed in 1849 is listed, now as to how she ended up in the 1850 census is a odd one.

If I can do anything please let me know

Merry Christmas

Dave

SAMUEL MATTHEWS ,
Someone would have had to send me that information , I took a lot of photos there and posted them on the cemetery page . I didn't do any research on anyone there . Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Ernie Wright.
From you
I note, also, that you have his birth date/place as 25 May 1820/Allegany County, MD. Do you have any idea where you obtained this info ? Im pretty sure that he was born in 1820/MD as all of the census reports were consistent. However, I never had the exact birth date and county. Hes my 3rd gr. grandfather and a major brick wall, so, pinning him down in an exact place in MD would be very helpful.

it was mentioned in a message dated Nov 2014 on the grave site of Benjamin Williams buried in Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago. Williams would have been a brother in law to Frampton. Williams was married to Willie Houston's sister Mariah

Rachel Frampton
Amy,

Is Rachel Frampton you speak of the same Rachel Estelle Frampton born in Ohio about 1872 married William (Willie) Collins Houston in Chicago Feb 6, 1896 and had one son John Fletcher Houston who would join the navy and die from tuberculosis in about 1923 in New Mexico.

If so, I am writing a book on John Fletcher Houston (1823 to 1870). I am looking for Willie and Rachel Houston's death information and where they are buried.

If you have any info would you consider sharing it with me?

Thanks
