I'm looking for a Craft family member in Texas that could be this person. Could you please explain your note on the memorial? Do you know if there is a stone or where I might find out more information on this person? Thank you for all your hard work on Find A Grave!

That is the only thing I can think of. I have notified Find A Grave and hopefully they can figure out where it belongs.

The thing about the service marker is that he was not in the Army during WW II. He was only 12 in 1942.

|Sharon Mohrmann||wrong headstone|
Memorial 76812527, Samuel A. Skiles has 2 headstone photos. He is my father. He is on a double monument with my step mother 76812567, Opel A. Skiles. I notified the person who submitted the photo. It is very strange because the only thing different is the year of birth. I will be happy to maintain both these memorials if they are not related to you.

|DJ Mercier||RE: Polvard|
Thanks for responding. The cemetery is Peebles Cemetery in Providence, Polk County & the last name is spelled Polvadore. In your photo, the name on the husband's side of the headstone is W D Jack Polvadore. The photo needed is for his wife's side of the headstone. Her name is Cora (Channel) Polvadore. Hope this helps you.

The above memorial is for Cora (Channel) Polvadore. At one time, Cora had duplicate memorials. When Find A Grave combined the two, her headstone photo was lost. The headstone photo on her husband W Donald "Jack" Polvadore's memorial 53770467 was taken by you. In the photo, it appears to be a dual headstone. Am hoping you took a photo of Cora's side at the same time & might still have the photo. If so, would appreciate your adding the photo to her memorial. Otherwise, I will send through a photo request. Thanks for your help with this matter.

I was wondering by chance are you related to Jasper or his wife. Jasper would be my husbands great grandpa. I am trying to work on my husbands Genealogy. I was hoping might be some kind of connection.
Thanks Priscilla Chorman McCormick

Well, the interesting thing is that via Ancestry.com memorials without a (sur-)name on Findagrave can be accessed (a name MUST be entered on Findagrave!) and so they can be researched e.g. either via Soc. Sec. Death Index (or censusses, etc.) on Familysearch.org (free!), or name(s) read from the gravestone photo, which - to my surprise - could not be read by the contributor.
If I can read it from a photo, then why could people not read the name from the gravestone, which should always be better quality than a photo?
To be positive and to answer that question: Often gravestones are photographed in bulk, then read and entered to Findagrave at home. If it is difficult to read: skip (i.e. name=Unknown), and continue with the next one, as there are a few hundred waiting.....
Also: name Unknown... Well, it is just under the grass near the edge of the gravestone... why not cut the grass away? Too much trouble.
And: gravestone unreadable... Well, photographers should always have a mirror or light source with them to shine light at an OBLIQUE angle over the letters, which will then be clear to read!
So, many more can still be identified.
Have a nice day.
