Martha Jane CROWE Cole

I found a death certificate at the Caldwell County, NC Register of Deeds for: Myrtle COLE Walix.

It states her parents were Robert Cole and Martha CROWE Cole.

It states her place of burial is West Lawn Cemetery (but it states Carter County, TN).

The funeral home was also In Johnson City, Carter County, TN.

On Find A Grave, the only West Lawn Cemetery is located in Johnson City, Washington County, TN.

I do not know which is correct.

However, I believe that Myrtle may be a relative of yours since you had her mother's memorial transferred to you.

I created the memorial .... 127280831

If you would like me to transfer it to you, just send me a request.

Take care,

Bradley Ingels

The Alexander Campbell you mention is my GGG-grandfather. Info on them is conflicting and hard to find, but Alexander had at least 2 wives & at least 8 total children. David Daniel was one of them. Alexander's son Alfred W. Campbell is my GG-grandfather. Alfred's son George Washington Campbell was my Great-grandfather, and his son Carl Gleason Campbell was my grandfather. RE: Westlawn lookups
Thanks for the update - Monnie L Young (10/31/1883-12/2/1963) - I have a photo of her marker, but not Charles Young. James & Dora have a double marker - I've got it. There are several Vaughts that I've got. BTW, do you know Carolyn Newman? She is a Vaught. Also, I trust you do access death certs on Ancestry - I have an Excel spreadsheet of Washington County DCs from 1915 to 1958, over 900 count, that I'd be happy to share if you'd like. I'm also happy to share my photos. I am not really a "memorial creator" per se, so I'd rather just add photos. I am essentially done with the survey - about 900 markers found, plus the 900 DC's (about 100 to 150 are on both lists). I have paths all over the 3 wooded acres - found at least 100 markers down there. There is still much clearing to be done - perhaps this winter. I'm happy to share and/or answer/help in any way I can. Gordon

Hey, Toby - will have to get permission to get to this one - on private property - it's overgrown and up on a hill - make take a few days, but I know who to contact. Markers are knocked over, or were when survey was done. Maybe you can confirm for me - was this Sarah the first wife of Charles (West Lawn)? Thanks, Gordon

With your clarification, I'm sure those two are husband & wife - I sent them over to you. I'll take a view shot next time I'm out there and send it to you. G

More on Cole - refer to memorials 118662888 & 118663008 - This may be the Charles you referred to, however, adjacent to his marker was a similar marker for an M. Jeannie Cole - the two markers were about 10 feet apart, and not in line - however, that doesn't mean much - I would have to say that these two markers represent a husband and wife (same exact style marker, nearly adjacent) - but her years don't match her death cert. M. Jeannie could be the same as Martha J, though. These markers could have been made later, but their style & condition would indicate that 1960 or so is reasonable, not within the last 10 years. I am continuing to do a lot of research in this burial ground, so I'll keep these on my radar screen. Hope it helps, at least somewhat. Gordon BTW, if you want those 2 memorials, just holler.

The Bachman plot in the new section - Wm Alex (d 2005), Chas Alex USN Korea (d 2005), Wayne Patrick (d 2003), Alex (b1904 d??), Rosa Lee (d 1977), and Richard A. (d 1974) - If any of this is applicable, just holler - I have photos of all. Gordon

RE: Westlawn lookups
Sent you a few - Martha Jane Cole entry was via death cert only - no marker. No records found for Charlie Cole. Plot ownership for Coles - only record I could find was for a B.W. Cole, who owned plot 102 in the new section, also a mowed area. The two Bachmans, Mahalla and Betty - I found those markers lying on the surface of the ground in the plot held by Charles Bachman - plot A-10 in the old section - it is in a mowed, not wooded area. No records of burial or markers found for Charles Bachman or Zillie Bachman - there are no other markers in said plot, which has room for at least 8 to 10 burials. There is a Bachman plot in the new section - I will send another message with that data for you - I have photos of all. Records are not real good for West Lawn

RE: Elminer Daniels tombstone
You bet - I just finished up a survey, including photos, of West Lawn - I added two memorials for George & Lydia - 118541543 and 118541587 - I'll transfer them to you, if you'd like - plus if you have any questions about West Lawn - perhaps I could help. Gordon
