It has been several years since I have been there. All the Williams there is my family. I do remember the stone with just Father. You need to get a hold of the Church this is where the records came from.

John B Crews
You posted a picture of the tombstone of "John B. Crews" at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Unfortunately you posted it on the wrong grave! John Crews, who was born in 1873 and died in 1964 was the son of John B. Crews! He went by the nickname of "Son". Please remove the picture.

John Stanford
I have been researching what I can online and have found the burial site of John Stanford's children. His son David can be found on FindaGrave. He died in 1871 and is buried in Wayfare Cemetery, Statenville, Echols Co.,GA along with his wife Agnes Akins Stanford. Son Elijah Stanford is also buried at Wayfare Cemetery (d. 1812 -- note before his father's death which might be significant). Elijah's wife is also at Wayfare. John's daughter, Mary, also married an Akins (Robert Lewis Akins) and is buried at Lake Church Cemetery near Statesboro (also can be found at FindaGrave). I find it interesting that all of the children married into the Akins family. I don't know when John's wife died (Rachel) but it might be worthwhile to look into following the Akins family to see if Father John might have stayed close to his children. A possibility perhaps. I honestly didn't mean to get this involved but couldn't help myself. I sometimes do that. I have notified an Ann who notated one of the sons' graves to see if Wayfare Cemetery has been completely listed. There is always a possibility that it has not and John Stanford could be there. I'm sure that there has been a mistake and you meant to list the Newton Family Cemetery in Scraven County GA rather than Newton County GA and you might want to correct that mistake. However it does look as though someone has listed and taken photos of all of the graves there, but there's always a possibility that perhaps not. If you have ancestry.com, there is information there on this family. Let me know if I can be of further help and would love to know if you locate John Stanford. Thanks, Rebecca

John, What info do you have that leads you to the Newton Family Cemetery in Newton County, Georgia. The John Stanford family appears to have lived in Bulloch County, Georgia and your John apparently died in the neighboring county of Screaven County, Georgia -- both many many miles away from Newton County, Georgia. I would check genealogical records in those two counties if I were you. If you have some information about him being buried in Newton Family Cemetery in Newton County, let me know. There are some other graves there but no headstones. I can't imagine why they would have sent him very far from his death spot. Bodies did not keep well in those days. If you need me to help you in your search, I'll be glad to but I am quite far from Bulloch and Screaven Counties.

Do you have more information regarding the site of this cemetery? I searched online and found this information which does not sound encouraging as far as finding his grave site, but before I give up, if you have any more information, I'll be glad to try and help.
