William R. Long
Benton W. Finch
Hi Tracy,

Please note I downloaded a photo of Benton to his memorial page.... not very good photo. It was the one in his obituary in Lancaster newspaper.

If you have a better photo please consider downloaded it and I'll delete mine.

Also, do you know, or can you find out Benton's middle name? All I could find is his middle initial.

Many thanks,

Bill Long

Request for Wood at Hamilton, NY
Hi Tracy,

Looked for the requested "Wood", Herbert & Sarah yesterday and did not find them in Section 14. I do have photos posted for Samuel & Jennie, plus Mary E., which are in Section 14, in case you are interested. Before I return to Woodlawn again I must have another look at the records. Perhaps, they are in a different section. Will keep you in my notes.

Not sure if you are notified when a photo is uploaded. The weather has been very hot these last weeks, so I am just now getting to these. You will find that I uploaded photos for Lydia and Joseph Williamson. However, Joseph's stone is mostly unreadable. The name is fairly clear and he was directly next to Lydia, on her left. I will look to see if you have any other requests on the North Fork of L.I., NY. Bev.

Zion Hill - Richard Crocker
Someone has asked for a photo of Richard Crocker, 1928-2005, at Zion Hill Baptist Cemetery. Since we conversed recently about a Mullinax grave that wasn't there, I thought maybe you might know something about this man. She sent me an obit:

Mr. Crocker was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, and was currently employed with Security Forces. He retired from Blackmon-Uhler in 1993, after 42 years of service as a Purchasing Agent. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Crocker is survived by a son, Richard Crocker, Jr. of Spartanburg; two step-sons, John Kennedy of Simpsonville, and Daniel Kennedy of Spartanburg; two daughters, Mary C. Setzer and Cathy C. McLyea, both of Spartanburg; a step-daughter, Angela K. Stone of Inman; six grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Crocker was predeceased by his twin brother, Robert Hugh Crocker.

Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. today, Monday, March 21, 2005, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Mr. Crocker will be placed in Mount Zion Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 842 Mount Zion Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family is at the home.

Have you seen his monument? I walked all around the area next to the church, only found one Crocker (not him). I realized just now he might be across the street. Do you know?

Great!
That is good. I think there has been a change in the membership. I know so many people who were completely ignored when they called/wrote etc.

Thanks for the info. I was so pleased to hear that the cemetery committee got back to you to confirm the date. For years they have never responded to inquiries from anyone at all.

Gerald Leland MULLINAX
I looked for this man's stone at Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery & could not find it, so I called the church. Brenda Walden, secretary of Zion Hill, just returned my call, she said Mr Mullinax used to be a member of her church but he was not buried in the church graveyard, his wife is still a member & she spoke to his wife, who said she buried him at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg. Please call the church Tuesday-Friday 9-1pm if you need more information, 864-579-2400.
