Zilpha White
I am going to decline your edit for the name of Zilpha White because the request is not in accord with find-a-grave naming conventions:

Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

The grave of Turpin Kilby

Yes, both photos are correct concerning the area where Turpin Kilby is buried. The woods where the graves are located are out in the middle of a field. The day I went out there, the grass in that portion of woods was a bit tramped down- may have been a deer sleeping area.

Turpin's stone is very hard to read- but his family Bible is still with his relatives and it lists his information. His family lived close to where the graveyard is- if you are familiar with the area- it is located in Elmont- which was known at one time as "Kilby's Station"

I think I am correct, that his is the only Kilby grave that is known in the graveyard, the others are for the Davis family- who were neighbors of the Kilbys. The Davis house still stands- and as the crow flies, is very close to the graveyard.

I hope I have answered your questions. If not, please contact me again.

All the best,

Thank you so much for your message. I just leave flowers so someone else must have left the picture. Just look for the name under the picture or the name of the memorial creator and that should help. Hope you get the info you need. Best ever, Sarah.

RE: Annual Stroud, Marango Cemetery, Crawford, Indiana
Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
I have changed the dates.

All of the John Thew(s) that I have listed (1760, 1784, 1788) indicate the inscriptions as I read them from the headstone. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't always give us a good result... plus the day I went to Knoell/Vail it was raining--it's already dark there but the lack of light is evident on the photos.

good luck!

thank you! hearing from people like you make it so worthwhile and I'm glad to be able to help.

The Knoell Cemetery (aka Vail cemetery) is accessed over private property. Looking at the map on FindAGrave in Hybrid mode will give you more visual information. If you'd like to visit this cemetery the next time you're in the area, I suggest you contact the Orange County Genealogy Society ahead of time--a volunteer may be able to set you up.

Lovely hearing from you. Good luck with your research!
