Grover Cleveland Allen
Hello Glenda,

I am writing from Belgium and I use the Google translator and I hope it translates well.

Are you the niece of Grover Cleveland Allen? I guess so because you sign "your niece" on his memorial.

Did you know that Grover had a son in Belgium during the Second World War? I am the half-brother of the child named Emile NINANE, born in 1945 in Harzé in the Belgian Ardennes.
My niece Veronica, daughter of Emile has traced Grover and corresponded with him before his death.
Emile sometimes corresponds with his half-sister who lives in the United States.

Grover's photo that I added to the memorial was taken behind the house of my grandparents in 1944.

Here, I just wanted to update you on this story as you may already know.

Would you happen to know this couple buried in Fairview Cemetery in Dansville, Michigan?
Toney Wireman 1910 - 1995 & wife Mable Hogg (Hoag)
1914 - 1995.
I am trying to find out more information on
Mable, her parents and siblings. Thanks!

RE: memorial link
Glenda, I am not able to do the link, because I did not post the memorial on David Wireman. I posted Lula Wireman, and I can link her husband and parents, and If I post one of their children, then I can link that child.

Go to David's memorial and down at the bottom, click on Sharon's name and ask her. She is very nice and will do this for you.

Hope this helps. Sharon Risner

#23448224 was added by me in 2007
I went by the Magoffin Historical Society for the correct name listed for that cemetery.

The second entry, 32968196,was done by someone else 4 years later. I have no control over their duplicate entry or control over what they called the cemetery.

I am confused as well. I wish you a good summer.

Thanks for looking that up for me. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Sometimes I just need a break from all the genealogy madness. But I'm back on top of it after a much needed and extended pause.

RE: Salyer book
Glenda, does the author say anything else about Phillip Slusher? I wonder if perhaps a father-son mix-up is occurring?

RE: Salyer book
Thank you so much Glenda for looking that up for me. The more I delve into Thomas Howard, the more lost in the sauce I become. This book seems to disagree with the majority consensus that Phillip Slusher married Judith Howard, daughter of Thomas Howard. I've never heard of Susannah Howard or her mother Celcia (sic) Howard, daughter of James Howard. I guess it's back to pestering archives and county courthouses with 20 requests at a time. I'm totally serious. I guess that I must come across to state and county officials as though I expect them to drop everything they're doing to photocopy various deeds, wills, loose case files, court indexes, etc.

Salyer Family Book
Hi. I saw a message where you mentioned the Salyer Family book. I've heard that it mentions several Eastern Cherokee Applications (ECAs) regarding Thomas Howard and his wife Lettie Durham. Could you please provide more details as to their daughter Judith Howard, wife of Phillip Slusher? I wish to locate a deed or will which connects Judith to Thomas. Or perhaps an ECA is the connecting document?

Glenda - You will have to ask the person who maintains the memorial for Rebel Salyer, memorial # 68033094 to link his parents. I am not in control of that grave. I suggest going to Rebel's memorial page and clicking the "edit" tab and asking Mr. Lemaster to do so following you provide him with the memorial numbers of Rebel's parents that he can link with.

RE: Salyer Family
You might try the Magoffin County Historical Society and see if they would have a list of people buried in the John Salyer Cemetery if any one would know it would be the Head man at the Historical Society. If you aren't familar with them you should check them out, they have a wealth of information.

In answer to the question if I am related to the Salyer family the answer has to be yes, my mother is a Grandaughter of Morgan Mason Salyer and his third wife Sarah Patrick in the Salyer Family book Mom is listed on page 137 as A.2.b.8.h.8 her Mom was Elizabeth (Bettie Salyer) and her Dad was William Salyer, Moms parents were second cousins both desendents of John Salyer was always told that Morgan didn't want William and Bettie to mary but his first wife Elizabeth was his first cousin he gave permission for them to mary when he was dieing Mom always said Morgan liked Grandpaw William when I look at the picture of Morgans family on page 135 I see my mothers face when I look at Elizabeth Moms mother died when mom was about 15 months old. I live in Ohio just south of Coulmbus but we always went home to Ky at least once a month when I was growing up, my Dads parents lived just a few miles froms Moms and the familys have know each other for generations. Was in the John Salyer Cemetery in 1974 with Mom and two of her sisters, one was the Royalton Postmaster for years and knew everything about the family they are all gone now Mom was the last. Was always interested in the graves of Rebel, South and North they are in a line as I remember at the feet of John and Polly Wadkins. Polly Wadkins Father was a soldier in the Revolutionary Army.
