Dorothy I am not kin to Keith North but his Uncle Albert Duncan was married to my sister {both dead now} and I only have Albert's father Leonard Duncan. Keiths mother Virginia Duncan North and i were the best of friends and Keith and my daughter often thought that they were brother and sister . Neida

Hurley or Barbara
Hello Dorothy,

Have you ever heard of, or do you know a Barbara or Hurley Duncan ?

If memory serves correctly, Hurley Duncan grew up in the American Legion Children's Home in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

To the best of my knowledge we have no biological relationship. But, wouldn't it be weird if we did?

Also, I'm very curious about anyone whose relatives were born in the early 1800's, in what would have been the 'Indian Territory' at the time, and is now modern day western Arkansas.

These relatives names would have been 'Blackhawk' and 'Brown.'

Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Hello? Bueller?

Dorothy, Hello, so nice to hear from you. I'm happy to share what I have on the Duncan family with you. If you will send me your email address or Ancestry username I will send you an invite to my family tree on Ancestry. My husband is Toney Duncan and I have done some research on his Duncan's going back to "The Old Country". I look forward to hearing from you.

RE: Owen Kenyon Brown
Hello Dorothy,
I am not a member of the Brown family, but I checked the Coryell County family history books for George A. Brown.
Unfortunately I did not find any records for him.

No, her name is Eveonne Christensen in Athens, Alabama. As long as you spell her first name exactly right you should find her ok. It's not a very common spelling. Please let me know if you have any problems. We'll keep looking for you too.

My mom's last name is Christensen. We tried to find you on Facebook today but didn't have any luck. What is your username or what is the email that you use on there?

Thanks so much for the reply! And thank you for allowing me to use the photos as well. I looked it up; we're third cousins, once removed. :-)

I would love to connect with you but I'm not on Facebook. I am on Ancestry, if you're on there. My mom is on Facebook and I'll ask her tonight or tomorrow to add you as a friend. Her name is Eveonne, could you please accept her request and I'll see if I can guide her through all the ins and outs and we can connect that way. She'd love to see the photos too! Y'all are just plain old third cousins.

I'd love to see all the family history work you've done on the Messer line! Thrilled, in fact. Thanks for being so willing to share!

Thanks again,

I loved seeing your photo of Sarah Lucinda Allie Messer online here, thank you for sharing it. I'm related to her older sister, Susannah Messer, who is my 2nd great grandmother.

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind me using the photo you shared of Sarah on, citing you as the source, to share with others who might like to see it as well. Please let me know, and thank you again for putting it up. I have a photo of Susannah on her memorial as well, if you'd like to see it.

RE: Lafayette Wayne Renshaw
I don't know very much about the family, but there's a historical marker on hwy380 on page that tells about Dr Renshaw and his 10 children. It says that several were doctors and I know they also owned several businesses around Decatur.
Search our Wise County pages with the little searcher on page for all we have.

RE: Lottie Lou Brister
Dorothy, I understand. It would be better if you relayed your request directly to the person, requesting transfer to you. However, according to Find A Grave rules, unless the person wants to transfer to you, cousin in not w/in the 4 generation rule. The memorial created first is supposed to be the one that remains. Best Wishes always!
Here is that section for you-
How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Only request transferring of management if you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

Second, Transfer requests will be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Third, If you have extensive additions/changes to make to a memorial, please contact the Find A Grave member who created the memorial via the "Suggest a Correction" link under the "Edit" tab on the memorial in question with your request to have the memorial management transferred to you. This will send an email request to the contributor, even if there is not an email address listed on their contributor page.

Fourth, Explain your relationship in the request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. Keep in mind that the original contributor may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. Bulk surname requests must not be made. Be advised that memorials listed as famous or maintained by Find A Grave will not be transferred.

Fifth, The "Suggest a correction" feature may also be used to submit corrections, an original biography, and family links to memorials that do not fall under the above definition. (Be sure to include the memorial ID#s for the family links and how they are related, father, mother or spouse. The original contributor will make any corrections and add any additional information you have for that memorial, such as links to parents and spouses, provided the information is accurate.

Sixth, Please note that it is not appropriate to request a transfer and then, after receiving the transfer, delete that page and substitute it with a new memorial that you have created. This practice denies credit to the original contributor. Please use the original memorial page to make updates and add information.

NOTE: If you are unable to edit a memorial after it has been transferred to your account, try logging out of Find A Grave then logging back in. [Top]

Dorothy, I too, am a cousin. Please contact me at my email address. Thank You!

RE: Rilla Sue Duncan
I really appreciate that information. I was born March 30, 1942 in Floydada, and went to school there through half of the fifth grade. We left there when my Grandpa Ferguson died when I was 10 years old. I thank you for the information. If you have contact with Billy Wayne you might give him my email address:

William and Rhoda Mae I knew as Bud and Sis. And Velma who was married to Malvin Duncan I also knew as Sis. I also went to elementary school in Floydada with a girl, I believe Rilla Sue Duncan was her name, who was kin some way to Malvin and Rhoda Mae. You might be able to correct me if I'm wrong.

I knew Billy Wayne as a kid. We used to wrestle and play together. But that was many years ago. The last time I remember seeing him was probably about 1956.

RE: picture of Bud thompson and family
Yes, we're related. Bud Thompson's mother Dora was my father's sister. Daddy was Ralph Tevis Ferguson aka Ted. So Bud Thompson and I are first cousins.
